It's been a busy week for Asha Sharma — not only has she started her first few days on the job as Microsoft Gaming CEO and overall Xbox boss, but she's also been interviewed and introduced to the team over at Microsoft HQ.
Posting on social media recently, Xbox exec Aaron Greenberg shared a video of Phil Spencer introducing the new Xbox leader to what seems like a massive number of employees at Microsoft.
The original tweet forces you to watch it on Twitter/X, so we've used a different post to embed it in this article:
In his accompanying text, Greenberg described it as being "an emotional day here for the team", sharing "so much love & appreciation" for Phil Spencer while also highlighting the "optimism" surrounding Asha Sharma's reign as boss.
"An emotional day here for the team. So much love & appreciation for all @XboxP3 has done over the years for the team + gaming. Lots of optimism hearing commitments from @asha_shar around great games, the return of @Xbox, & her dedication to lead & learn into the next 25 years!"
In addition, Sharma took to social media to dish out huge praise for Phil Spencer, highlighting how he's a "remarkable leader", a "deeply remarkable human being", and that they've talked nearly every day for the past couple of months.
Here's just a sample of what else she had to say in her post:
"When he took over @Xbox in 2014, it was a pivotal moment. He pushed for backward compatibility because players asked for it. He helped bring Xbox One X to life. He created Game Pass. And through it all, he re-centered our decisions around players and creators."
"A lot of careers get summed up by milestones. Phil’s impact shows up in stories. In the creators who felt safe taking risks, in the teams who did the best work of their lives because someone believed in them, and in players across generations who felt like Xbox was theirs."
There's clearly a ton of respect for Phil Spencer inside of Team Xbox and Microsoft as a whole, and it's nice to see Sharma appreciating his massive contributions to the brand over the past twelve years.
In fact, we recently highlighted seven amazing things Phil Spencer achieved as Xbox boss — we'll leave that below!
