We've seen Xbox Game Pass title Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 racking up so many Game of the Year awards over the past few weeks (including here at Pure Xbox), but that's not the case everywhere, including at Eurogamer.

In fact, Eurogamer's massive list of the top 50 best games of 2025 features Expedition 33 in second place, behind another Game Pass title in the form of Blue Prince. Two Xbox Game Pass titles leading the way!

EG lavishes praise on Blue Prince, with one member of the team in particular stating that it blew their "expectations out of the water" and they're still thinking about it months later.

"Sometimes, a game comes along that completely blows your expectations out of the water, and for me this year that was Blue Prince, the puzzle adventure from Dogubomb. Blue Prince pops players into the shoes of Simon P. Jones, who must locate a hidden 46th room within the mansion known as Mt. Holly Estate in order to secure his inheritance. That may all sound like a simple enough task, but what Dogubomb has done here is lace what may at first seem like a straightforward puzzle with a mystery-infused sub layer. Blue Princes teases its secrets out slowly, but the end result is absolutely worth it. Even months later, I still often find myself thinking about it. What an experience. What a game. - Victoria"

Eurogamer certainly isn't alone in thinking Blue Prince is amazing, with the game racking up an incredible 92 average rating on Metacritic and becoming the fifth highest-rated release of the entire year in the process. Former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida even mentioned before it came out that it would be a Game of the Year contender!

It's well worth looking at the rest of the list too, which features the incredible Despelote in fourth place, Split Fiction in sixth place, Hollow Knight: Silksong in seventh place and Silent Hill F in eighth place. For what it's worth, the highest ranking for an Xbox first-party game is Keeper at #21, followed by Oblivion Remastered a little further back at #32.

As mentioned, both Blue Prince and Clair Obscur Expedition 33 were added to Xbox Game Pass at launch this year, so kudos to Team Xbox and particularly the ID@Xbox crew for getting those deals done. Great scouting work from them!
