At this point, we feel like we've seen pretty much everything there is to see about the Forza Horizon series, going back all the way to the first game on Xbox 360. This morning, however, we've come across a very cool leak that shows a super-early development build of Forza Horizon 2 - one from before its eventual release back in 2014.
There's a video showcasing this early dev build up above, and as you can see, it's in a very primitive state here. High-res textures aren't present, entire chunks of the map are missing and the game is nowhere near in a fully playable state, but it's an intriguing look at how the game was shaping up before launch. This also appears to be the Xbox 360 version of the game; yes, a 360 version launched way back when, headed up by Sumo Digital!
Looking at this interesting Wiki on the leak, the build seems to come from May 2014, with the game then launching in October. Of course, there's every chance this build has even older elements than that - but if it is from just six months before launch, it's very impressive to see how the final version turned out that October.
We'll chuck a few stills direct from Hidden Palace down below:

You can certainly see the bones of FH1 in these early development images, which makes sense given that this is coming from the Xbox 360 version of FH2. In general though, this is a very cool look back at how this game came to be, and we have so many fond memories of Horizon 2 from back in the day so we're pretty grateful to see it. It's hard to believe it's now been over 10 years since Forza Horizon 2 came to market!
