Original Story: Elden Ring Nightreign may be seen as DLC itself by some, but the FromSoftware multiplayer title is actually getting its own expansion on Xbox in the coming months.
As mentioned in recent financial results by the Japanese developer, "FromSoftware is currently developing Elden Ring Nightreign DLC (planned for release in FY2025)". Fiscal Year 2025 would put this expansion as launching between now and the end of March 2026.
"We have multiple game titles in the development pipeline. FromSoftware is currently developing Elden Ring Nightreign DLC (planned for release in FY2025) Elden Ring Tarnished Edition (planned for release in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2), and The Duskbloods (planned for release in 2026)."
In terms of the nature of this DLC, that's unclear at this stage. As we mentioned up at the top, Nightreign launched earlier this year as a multiplayer spin-off to 2022's Elden Ring, and we'd expect this expansion to stay within that realm when it does arrive. We'll have to wait and see though!
In another segment of the financial call, FromSoftware's parent company Kadokawa mentioned that Elden Ring Nightreign is "performing well beyond initial expectations", which probably goes some way to explaining these DLC plans. We're curious to see how this upcoming expansion turns out, even if we suspect some fans would like to the see the famous developer return to more traditional single-player content.
