Yesterday, we highlighted all the release dates and release times for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, mentioning that early access officially begins today (July 8th) - and therefore the reviews have started to land as well!

We haven't been able to get our hands on THPS 3+4 yet despite our best efforts, and it seems a lot of critics are in the same boat - reviews for the Xbox version are extremely limited, and there aren't many reviews in general.

Nevertheless, we can get a decent idea of how this one's shaping up - so lets take a look at a few of them:

But Why Tho? (9/10)

"Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 is another example of how to breathe new life into a classic without losing touch with what makes the originals great."

COGConnected (8.5/10)

"Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is an excellent sequel. It has the smooth skateboard gameplay we all know and love, with tons of features and modes. It also nails the vibes of early 2000s skate culture. All the new levels are fun as well. The only knocks against it are its lame create-a-skater, which is a huge missed opportunity, and the fact that its content just isn’t as iconic as the original two games in the THPS series."

IGN (8/10)

"Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 proves yet again the series’ over-the-top skateboarding formula is totally timeless, even if some of the changes to THPS4 miss the mark and the soundtrack has been fumbled."

GameSpot (8/10)

"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is a phenomenal game of skate, one that fans would flock to without hesitation if it weren't for some of the strange decisions regarding the game's Career mode and THPS 4 levels. Some of the changes feel needless, and overall, THPS 4 just doesn't fit as well into the same structure as the original three games."

As you can see, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is faring really well with the critics right now, boasting a Metacritic average of 84 as things stand. The gameplay seems to be just as good as it was in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, with the only consistent grumbles being around the changes to THPS4's level structure and the very different soundtrack.

You'll be able to check out THPS 3+4 for yourself on Xbox Game Pass beginning this Friday, and Deluxe Edition / Upgrade owners can play it right now. More details about all of this is available elsewhere on Pure Xbox:
