Halo Infinite's Summer 2025 update is now live on Xbox and PC, and it brings a whole host of additions and changes to Microsoft's 2021 FPS - including the latest in-game event in the form of 'Operation Last Stand'.
Operation Last Stand introduces a brand-new weapon — the Mutilator — which combines the series' famous gravity hammer with a double-barreled shotgun to devastating effect. There's also a new variant of Firefight mode in here called 'Battle of the Academy', which introduces "a new linear Firefight experience" to Halo Infinite.

"Iratus has brought the Banished to the Spartan Academy. Brace for contact in Firefight: Battle of the Academy, a new linear Firefight experience set in the Avery J. Johnson Academy of Military Science.
You’ll have to defend your allies, commit acts of sabotage, and prevent the enemy from attaining intel on humanity’s best-kept secrets. Our survival as a species may depend on it.
Banished don’t relent without a fight. Let’s give them what they came for."
Elsewhere in this big summer update, well, the new Operation adds a brand-new battle pass of course — with free and premium versions available to players — and we've also got a new 'Mutilator Madness' multiplayer playlist that focuses on Halo Infinite's brand-new weapon. This one sounds a heck of a lot of fun!
"Jump into Mutilator Madness to wield the mighty Mutilator in a new, more monstrous incarnation of Juggernaut. At the start of each match, one player randomly assumes the role of the Mutilator-toting Juggernaut, a nigh-invincible foe whose kills earn points toward victory. The rules are simple: kill the Juggernaut, become the Juggernaut. Everyone else is cannon fodder."
Finally, these new additions to the game are accompanied by loads of bug fixes and tweaks to Halo Infinite - which you can check out in full on the Halo Waypoint website. The Halo Infinite Summer Update is now live on Xbox & PC, and the Last Stand Operation is ongoing through June 10th.
