Commandos: Origins, the return of the classic stealth RTS series, now has an official 2025 release date. The Xbox Series X|S & PC title launches on April 9th, and as previously announced - it'll be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Origins marks the series' first brand-new entry since the mid-2000s, with a couple of modern remasters then arriving back in 2022. Here's how Claymore Games' studio director Jürgen Reusswig describes the feeling of finally nailing down that Xbox release date for Commandos: Origins:
"After more than four years of setting up a new studio, design and development and the invaluable community feedback from various playtests, operation ‘Release’ is a go for Commandos: Origins. We are proud and excited that players will now be able to experience the origins story of the elite unit which started this legendary franchise."
While the initial digital release for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC happens this April, we also have an extended timeline for various other editions of the title. A retail version of Commandos: Origins launches on May 22nd, followed by last-gen versions of the game heading to digital storefronts at some point in 2025 - including Xbox One.
We don't have confirmation just yet if that Xbox One version will be playable on Game Pass, but Series X|S users can get stuck in via the service on April 9th, and the title is likely to be Xbox Cloud Gaming compatible for those still playing on the last-gen console.
