After the stacked Xbox Developer Direct event last week, Xbox is an amazing position when it comes to its first-party slate for early 2025, and with the likes of Fable and The Outer Worlds 2 still to come, late 2025 could be incredible too.
Of course, the rumours are always flying around about what else could be in store for the year, and The Verge's Tom Warren casually namedropped four titles last week - two of which were apparently being prepared for 2025 last year.
The first of these games is Gears of War: E-Day, which Warren says was being "planned" for 2025 at some point in 2024, but he's no longer sure whether it's still targeting the same window. The other is the much-rumoured remake for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which he says was targeting late spring or early summer 2025 at some point last year.
"In recent weeks, rumors have pointed toward a remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I first heard about this remaster last year, and at the time, Microsoft was tentatively targeting a release in late spring or early summer 2025."
"It will also be interesting to see if Gears of War: E-Day will make the 2025 release date I'd heard Microsoft was planning for last year."
