Update: We've now got a confirmed release date for Space Marine 2! It's coming on September 9th, 2024.
Original story: We first heard about Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 ages ago — way back in 2021 in fact — but unfortunately, the game has seen another delay right at the last hurdle. Now due to launch "in the second half of 2024", publisher Focus Entertainment has teased that a proper nailed-on release date is coming very soon.
Yep, even though the game could still be a year or so away, we're set to get a release date for Space Marine 2 "in early December" - which sounds like a very 'The Game Awards' sort of time frame to us. Here's the team's full statement as part of a recent investor call:
"Focus Entertainment will reveal the official launch date of the highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 - the iconic Games Workshop licence – in early December. The game is now poised to ship in the second half of 2024, to provide the time needed to properly polish the game and to ensure the best possible experience.
Focus Entertainment is committed to releasing a game that is of the highest quality and that exceeds the expectations of the countless fans of the franchise. Space Marine 2 has already accumulated over a million wish lists to date."
The game is confirmed for Xbox Series X|S either way, and we're interested in seeing how Space Marine has grown from the Xbox 360 original to this upcoming next-gen sequel.
