Xbox Users Appear To Have Spotted More 'Nerfs' For Microsoft Rewards

Yep, definitely had the same issues in the US today.

Yes, noticed both this morning.

yes 5 second day between searches or the don't register.

I thought the whole point of rewards was to reward you for using their products so removing the Edge points seems counter intuitive.

Noticed yesterday in the UK. 12 points gone and issues doing quick searches both yesterday and today. Never mind

I have been noticing things taking ages to register today and then while it was I noticed the removal of those points. The app on console seems to have had almost next to no extra points the last couple of weeks. I'm not overly bothered but it's become very noticable and it is constantly slowing down how long it takes for things to register.

Gotta recoup that ABK cash somehow!

Oddly enough the searches do count towards the 50 in the weekly set.

I've also notice for the Xbox reward app, on a day to day basis, there are hardly any videos to click and watch these days.

I like and prefer Edge.

But will now use Chrome or Firefox just on principle going forward.

I don't even bother with them anymore complete waste of time now compared to when rewards launched.

They’re sure making this less useful.

Oh for goodness sake Microsoft just get rid of it completely if you intend to nerf it into the ground like this, and while your at it just go the Nintendo route and allow our remaining points to buy some sexy Xbox avatars instead of anything useful. 😁👍🏻

im getting sick and tired of microsoft's bait n switch on everything like consoles, screen shots, game pass, reward points. they enjoy abusing the common folk.

they spend $70 billion and want us to pay for it. whats next? a subscription fee for windows?

@Kaloudz They've only been overly generous because they were desperate and had to do something and last time i checked they're still so far behind Sony and Nintendo so seems weird to start making everything less consumer friendly all of a sudden.

@Rangers420 its gonna be real hard for me to stick with xbox next gen. like a 10/10 avowed, perfect dark, and world of warcraft 2 built for controllers is needed.

@Kaloudz To be fair, it was 20 per day in the states, which comes out to 7,300 points per year lost.

I think I'm going to just cash out now. I've done well out of MS rewards but it's not getting to be a chore for me. I'm missing more and more days and tbh I'm struggling to care now. Yeah I think I might be done. 74k points in bank. 3 controllers for free, number of free gamepass, numerous 3 games. I think I'm done

Noticed over the last few weeks that the "view a game for points" on the xbox store have practically disappeared

They even nerfed the get an achievement from 50 to 5.....which is just a slap in the face

They need to recoup all those billions they spent recently. 😄

I hate how I can't mix and match Nintendo profile icons from different sets. Also, not sure if this is new, but I just wanted one of the backgrounds in the new Mario Wonder icon page but it requires me to first buy one of the characters.

Nintendo has put some pretty stupid restrictions on something as simple as player profiles. 🤦‍♂️

I haven't owned a PC in nearly a decade as I had no need for one. I could just use my smartphone phone for everything I needed.

I did buy a laptop when I needed to handle more important things like everything involving my parents affairs before they passed.

Now I keep getting prompts to upgrade to Windows 11 everytime I login to my laptop. If Windows ever went to a subscription service I'd stop using Windows. I'm so sick of everything becoming a service.

There's been a crazy amount of cuts just this month alone, and it's a lot of points gone overall with increased amount of effort needed... think this is where I stop bothering and downgrade to Core. But even that I'll have to consider, since I don't think I play online enough to justify that, and I own all the games I care about in its lineup.

@shoeses i can't think of anything i want to play online rn or the future. and don't they have a new a.i. moderator or something that can perma ban your account if you say the wrong thing? that takes the fun right out of it imo.

I feel your disappointment! I wanted my new Mario wonder Toad icon on an older background I own, but nope! How dare we show very minor creativity like that! Just Nintendo being Nintendo I guess.

@rustyduck Only games that aren't F2P and therefore would need Core/Gold for me are the MCC and Garden Warfare, the former I can never find lobbies with the specific Game Modes I want and the latter sadly no one really plays. And my main Co-op buddy's got less time than ever, so that's not really a factor either.

I´ve been trying to get some points for rewards but it already felt like a chore before these nerfs and changes so I might just give up. It was pretty generous though, so kind of expected to see this.

It's been a good run. Unfortunately it's almost over. I used to cash in a £25 voucher bimonthly. Slowly dwindling to a solitary tenner in the same time frame. As others have mentioned it was too good to be true. Now all the games have increased in price on the store and with this new nerf, pay to play early and games as a platform Microsoft bs. Yeah I'm better off plumping for a PC and enjoying the wider and cheaper library.

It feels silly to complain about such trivial things but honestly the new search cooldown timer is so incredibly tedious, I hate it so much. Not sure if I will be able to endure the slog of grinding them out everyday long term after this change. It’s a 600% increase in time needed for an 8% reduction in points earned. Really not good when you look at it from that perspective!

@Kaloudz I also just noticed that the weekly puzzle has gone from 10pts to 1pt.

I get what you’re saying but I guess I’m too annoyed to just roll over on it.

@Kaloudz Kudos on the healthy perspective. It's definitely better for the mental health.

Just reminded me about the whole Moviepass thing back when that went viral. At the end, people were frustrated and angry at how that ship sunk, instead of accepting that it really was just too good to last anyway.

The search delay is an excellent idea as it stops people abusing the system

clicking on pc "trending on bing" worked pretty fast today for me. its still slow on my phone.

@Rangers420 They're behind in console sales but in gaming revenue and profit they're ahead of both PlayStation and Nintendo. User base wise and I suspect with Subscriptions they are beating both Sony and Nintendo as well. Those are the metrics that they care about and Xbox is well on its way to becoming a $600 billion brand if they haven't passed that point already. They're big players in the PC and mobile gaming market now as well. This is the strongest they've ever been.

@ultraviolet Just curious, do you do the searches? If the answer is yes, why is having to wait between searches good for you?

@FatalBubbles I do searches all all my devices legitimately, so a time gap is irrelevant

@ultraviolet I don’t know what this means. It sounds like you do use the search portion of the rewards and you just use it causally and not strictly for rewards?

@FatalBubbles it wasn't meant to be sorry, I use Bing rewards every day as it's my default search engine on every device I own I always reach the limit quite quickly.

It stops “misuse” but sucks for everyone using the rewards. Not helpful for us. 😂
