Still Wakes The Deep is a narrative first-person jaunt through a potentially haunted oil rig, or at least one experiencing a serious cosmic disturbance. We got a better look at gameplay during the Xbox Partner Preview event earlier today, and this psychological horror title is due out in early 2024.

Developed by The Chinese Room, the studio behind Dear Esther and Everbody's Gone to the Rapture, Still Wakes the Deep is set on the Beira D oil rig off Scotland's wind-swept coast. Players follow protagonist Caz McLeary as he attempts to reach safety following an unknown but seemingly catastrophic event. Whereas the developer's previous efforts were more traditional "walking simulators", Still Wakes the Deep looks like it will be leaning harder into the traditional horror angle.
