Today was supposed to be the day for WrestleQuest on Xbox, but we'll have to wait a bit longer. The new wrestling RPG has been pushed back slightly to August 22nd due to a progression bug that's been spotted by the development team.

This was explained in a message to fans on Twitter a few hours ago:

When it does eventually arrive in a couple of weeks' time, WrestleQuest promises to offer the "ultimate pixel powered adventure" as you embark on a hero's journey from young rookie to world champion. Featuring "classic RPG combat", you'll find yourself running into legends of the business including Jake Roberts, Randy Savage and Andre the Giant.

Even though WrestleQuest has just been delayed to late August, the reviews have already gone live! So far, the game holds a Metacritic rating of 70 based on 10 reviews (for the PC version), with most of the critics having positive things to say - aside from a "Poor" 4/10 from the folks over at GameSpot.

We'll throw a summary of those reviews down below:

But Why Tho? (9/10)

WrestleQuest is such a wonderful love letter to both wrestling and classic role-playing games. It’s hard to come away from WrestleQuest with anything but a deeper respect for wrestling as a whole and a new love for slamming your enemies into the floor.

TheGamer (8/10)

"It's clear that the devs at Mega Cat love RPGs, and they might love wrestling even more. This could easily have been a cheap cash-in, a generic RPG with a lazy wrestling facade. The truth is the opposite, and I implore fans of old-school RPGs to check it out whether you like wrestling or not."

Shacknews (7/10)

"WrestleQuest is a game that's easy to love, though it has its fair share of flaws. Exploring this world that shows a clear love for the world of wrestling is a lot of fun. Most of the characters walk that fine line between being homages and caricatures. Even if they have a few groan-worthy lines, using their in-ring moves is a lot of fun."

DualShockers (6.5/10)

"Toss in a world map, a minimap, and most importantly, a fast-travel feature, and this game would be leaps and bounds ahead of what it is. Still, if you don't mind the monotony and you've got a nostalgic love for Golden Era wrestling, WrestleQuest might be worth a look."

GameSpot (4/10)

"WrestleQuest has the right tools to make for a memorable wrestling RPG experience, with its quirky characters, vibrant atmosphere, and countless references. Unfortunately, though, its over-reliance on a rote combat system, poorly paced narrative, and issues under the hood make for a frustrating experience."
