We've known about THQ Nordic's plans to reimagine Alone in the Dark since last summer, and the project has intrigued us ever since, especially with how well Capcom has breathed new life into various Resident Evil classics in recent years. Today, the team has unveiled a bunch more info about its upcoming current-gen spookfest, including a not-too-distant launch date - and a free Xbox prologue to boot!

Alone in the Dark is scheduled to release for Xbox Series X and S on October 25th, 2023, and if you're eager to try out a slice of the action early, you can download the free Xbox prologue right now.

Alongside these two welcome reveals, the team has gone into a lot more detail on what we can expect from the game in general. Much of that detail is showcased in the above 'Spotlight' video clip, which delivers more than 10 minutes of brand-new gameplay footage.

Here's a quick summary of what Pieces Interactive is bringing to Alone in the Dark:

"Explore Derceto Manor in this reimagination of Alone in the Dark, a love letter to the 90’s cult classic horror game! Set in the gothic American South in the 1920s, Alone in the Dark features a noir setting with classical Lovecraftian horror elements, where the familiar meets the surreal."

"In the upcoming Alone in the Dark, players can choose between two protagonists to experience the haunting story: Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby. To bring these two iconic characters to life, the developers partnered up with famous actors Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, Free Guy) and David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow), who will lend their voices, their appearance, and their formidable acting skills to the protagonists. Depending on who you play, you will get a different take on the same story."
