Update: To clear things up, the Sea of Thieves 2023 Edition is the version of the game that's been added to Xbox Game Pass today, and it contains the following:

"Celebrate five years since Sea of Thieves' launch with this special edition of the game, which includes a copy of Sea of Thieves itself with all permanent content added since launch, plus a 10,000 gold bonus and a selection of Hunter cosmetics. The Hunter Cutlass, Pistol, Compass, Hat, Jacket and Sails will ensure you cut a formidable figure as you set sail for adventure!"

The new Deluxe Edition of Sea of Thieves isn't included with Xbox Game Pass - instead, you can buy it for £35.99 / $39.99, or purchase a Deluxe Edition Store Pack (which doesn't include the base game) for £8.99 / $9.99.

Here's what's specific to the Deluxe Edition:

"Included with the Deluxe Edition of Sea of Thieves, this bundle contains the scorching Black Phoenix Figurehead and Sails, the classic Crab Dab and Deck Hide Emotes, and 550 Ancient Coins to spend in the Pirate Emporium."

Sea Of Thieves 'Deluxe Edition' Launches Today On Xbox 2

Original story (altered): Exciting news, Sea Of Thieves fans! A "Deluxe Edition" of the game has launched today, which celebrates five years of its existence.

In addition, there's a new version on Xbox Game Pass called the "Sea of Thieves 2023 Edition" - the difference between this one and the old one is that you now get some extra gold and cosmetics.

These aren't massive updates or anything, but it's still nice to see Sea of Thieves getting two new versions (including one on Xbox Game Pass) with a few extra goodies thrown in. You can check out the new Deluxe Edition trailer up above.
