Activision has announced that the story campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will now release a week earlier than initially scheduled, with a new date of October 21st. The company is introducing an early access period specifically for the game's campaign mode, however, there's a slight catch.

First off, this is exclusive to pre-orders, which makes sense given the nature of the bonus. However, it's also exclusive to digital pre-orders, meaning folks who opt for the physical version have no early access option for campaign.

Thankfully, there's no platform bias here as is the case with the upcoming multiplayer beta. While the online beta has an exclusive period just for PlayStation users, campaign early access is the same across all platforms: one week early for digital pre-orders.

To be honest, we're okay with this in general! While we'd like the deal to reach physical versions as well, it is purely the story campaign, so there's no pre-release multiplayer advantage to be gained through early access. The full game is set to launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on October 28th.

Does this sweeten the deal enough for a pre-order? Let us know in the comments!
