Discord Voice Chat Is Coming To Xbox, Starting Today For Insiders

Anyone for Discord? Microsoft and the Xbox team have announced that Discord Voice Chat is coming to the Xbox platform, and it'll be rolling out to Xbox Insiders starting today - available "soon" for everyone else.

Specifically, the update will be accessible today for "select" Insiders and will expand to more in the coming weeks. It allows you to "chat with anyone on Discord via voice channels or group calls directly from your console".

"Planning a few rounds of multiplayer action in Halo Infinite with buddies on both console and PC? Exploring new biomes with your friends in Minecraft? See them already playing a game that supports cross-play? Connect to their voice channel and chat as you all play."

To use the feature, you'll need to link your Discord account with Xbox (when the feature is made available to you) by pressing the Xbox guide button and then navigating to Parties & chats and then Try Discord Voice on Xbox.

After that, it gets a bit convoluted though. You'll need to scan a QR code on your phone, set up the Discord and Xbox apps to create a two-way link, and then use the Discord app to "Join on Xbox" when you want to connect to a Discord Voice Chat via your console. At least, that's the gist we're getting from the instructions so far.
