Death's Door was the talk of the Xbox community last week, receiving immense critical acclaim including a 10/10 rating in our review here at Pure Xbox, and even Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been joining in the fun!
Spencer replied to the development team last week on Twitter, congratulating them on the launch and highlighting how there was "lots of excitement" for the game, saying he couldn't wait to give it a try.
Soon after that tweet, he shared an image of him playing Death's Door with the #XboxShare hashtag:
Death's Door has consistently remained amongst the top paid games on the Microsoft Store since its release last week, and is rated as one of the best Xbox Series X and Series S games to date on Metacritic.
It's not included with Xbox Game Pass sadly, but you can grab it for the very reasonable price of just £16.24 / $19.99. Needless to say, it comes highly recommended!

It's really great. I have just beat the second boss and i'm having a great time. The puzzles are a little simplistic, but other than that I don't really have anything negative to say. There are much worse ways to spend 16 quid.
@The_New_Butler I love hearing praise for a game. Keep talking. Id take that over multiple posts filled with negativity and nitpicking any day.
I remember back when Hollow Knight came out on Switch in 2018 and everyone was raving about it like they're doing now with Death's Door. Definitely want to check this game out eventually but right now I'm playing way too many games!
One question: does anyone if the game runs well on base Xbox One?
Ok, so I'll be that guy: I'll play it once it hits Game Pass. There are just too many games to play (like the entire Metro trilogy that's waiting for me) so before I get to Death's Door it will inevitably be on Game Pass. I am happy to hear it's a great game and received such praise from both gamers and reviewers.
Awesome game. MS should buy the IP and let Acid Nerve work on the sequels exclusively for Xbox & PC onwards.
I’ve said it a few times around here now. This games great. At £16 it’s a bargain, I hope people give it a chance.
The Ascent is out this week too, some really great indie titles hitting Xbox at the moment.
I love all the positivity around here. Really makes a community. Game is great. Some parts are frustrating but I just put it down and come back to it later. Really does feel like I'm a child playing it with some of the puzzles and fights.
I'm on the final boss at the moment. Truly fantastic game...
@SplooshDmg Yeah I completely agree. I really like that you aren't punishing severely with dying besides the "puzzle" or "fight" you got stuck on. It takes awhile for my brain and hands to feel as one in Death's Door but when they do it just feels very rewarding. Like when you unlock a puzzle the first time or find a secret without realizing it or defeating a boss the first time too. It's a very satisfying game.
I will pick up this weekend. Been busy with mass effect and the outer worlds. Xbox is on fire.
This game is absolute perfection. I’ve loved every second of it so far. It’s tough, but not unfair, the puzzles are interesting, the story gives you just enough to make you want more, the music and art style are stunning, and the combat is fantastic. It’s a top contender for GotY for me, so far.
I am actually not loving this game like everyone else. I bought it on the strength of the reviews, but can't get into it. That's why Gamepass is so awesome, you can try before you buy!
Loved this game. I don't usually go for 1000G on games, only if I like it a lot and the achievements don't feel like a chore. Death's Door checked both boxes and I just completed it.
@The_New_Butler beating the game with the umbrella is not as hard as it seems. Of course, the umbrella is garbage, but it forces you to rely on your ranged abilities, which are very OP once you upgrade them. By the end-game a charged arrow can one-shot all regular mobs.
@SplooshDmg that's one of my favorite things about it: the difficulty is so finely tuned that even when you die, you ALWAYS know what you did wrong. This is a great sweet spot, tough but never ridiculously so.
