There's a lot of speculation floating around that Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII could be making its Xbox Game Pass debut in the near future, as the game has just been patched on PC for the first time in years.
As highlighted by Eurogamer, the patch fixes an issue with Lightning’s voice not being played in some scenes, and the speculation amongst fans is that this might have been implemented to fix up the game before it hits Game Pass.
"Thank you for your continued support of LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII.
An update of the game has been implemented as of 12th July 2021.
Update Content:
Fixed an issue of Lightning’s voice not being played in some scenes.We hope you continue to have fun with LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII."
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII was included in the massive batch of Final Fantasy titles that were announced for Xbox Game Pass in 2019, so it's only a matter of time before it eventually makes its way to the service.

If you want to play FF7 and 8 on Game Pass these are likely leaving soon (based on 12 months on the service like 9 & 15)
Current estimates for leaving are
If they keep with the same format of one FF game every 3 months we should get one more in August and then again in November, Feb 2022 and maybe May 2022, unless they release FF13 + FF13-2 + LR:FF13 all together.
Would be super weird to get LR:FF13 before the other two as it's a direct sequel.
@CrazyJF YES! I'm REALLY looking forward to it. I played FF12 back at launch on PS2 and absolutely LOVED the gambit system. (Another programmer!) It's all just logic, but so much fun! Have been surprised how so few other games didn't continue and expand this idea... but it was a bit Marmite at launch, some loved it others really didn't.
Just finishing FF8 and it also has a quick L3/R3 toggle to turn on/off 3x speed, random encounters and (almost) invincibility.
I'm glad to see that FF7, 8, 9, 10 & 12 also have these or similar QoL improvements. Honestly I don't think I would be going back to play these without them, I just don't have the time anymore to replay all of these for 50+ hours, this significantly cuts down the time and grind required.
I wish more grindy games, especially remasters, did this.
I wonder if they'll just drop the entire trilogy at once or drip feed them?
Lightening Returns is the last is the trilogy and the worst of the bunch.
FF 13 and 13-2 are actually really good games and feel like remasters with the One X enhancements.
@blinx01 Have they fixed the framerate drops on 13? It got pretty bad at times. Looks great, but performance isn't.
13 actually is good, though I never liked how the characters controlled. They move like they're drunk .
Only JRPG I've ever played where I didn't fall asleep at some point while playing (probably because of the time limit, lol). Definitely hope this turns out to be true...
@NEStalgia I really hope that’s gets fixed :/
@NEStalgia
I've played through all of FF 13 on my Series X and I didn't feel or notice any obvious frame drops.
I haven't played much of FF13-2 or Lightening Returns though, so can't comment on the performance there.
