We know The Coalition is hard at work on the next Gears entry, but we haven't had an official reveal as of yet. An upcoming GDC presentation on July 20 at 1:20pm PT / 4:20pm ET / 8:20 UTC / 9:20pm BST will see the developer showing off an Unreal Engine 5 demo, and while it may not be Gears related, it will give us an indication into the graphical prowess of their upcoming titles.
During the hour-long showcase, a technical demo known as Alpha Point will aim to "internally evaluate" Unreal Engine 5, and give viewers a look into the graphics being used in future projects. The presentation is being targeted at "Unreal Engine licensees or anyone interested in getting a sneak peek at next-gen game workflows and visuals."
While the demo will take place on Xbox Series X hardware, "performance and memory observations will be covered for Xbox Series X and S, as well as VFX, Blueprint, material setup, Temporal Super Resolution, and Virtual Texture findings". Character creation is also getting a demonstration, but this will only be shown on the Xbox Series X.
The developer revealed back in May it would be moving over to Unreal Engine 5 development, and this will be our first look at it all in action. The team was also hiring for multiple positions earlier this year, which are said to "forge the future" of the Gears franchise. It'll be interesting to get a first look at what we can expect from the upcoming entry's graphics, and see just how powerful the Xbox Series X can be in The Coalition's hands.
Will you be turning in to The Coalition's demo of Unreal Engine 5? Let us know in the comments below.

Oh [expletive] yes!
Few have the mastery of Unreal that The Coalition has, so I am looking forward to see this demo!
Awesome news
Yeah, this is definitely something to be excited for 😁
Ohhh this should be good!!
Sorry to be negative, but I'll get excited when it's an actual game and not just another tech demo...
@Residentsteve01 are you trying to count judgment as well or am I missing something?
Okay! Def. Hyped!
Love Gears.
There are already some truly incredible UE5 showcases online. But It will be truly fascinating to see what a pro team can do after a month or two with the beta. Hyped!
Haven't liked the Gears series since GoW2. Kinda died for me. I think Outriders is the best Gears style game out there at the moment. Gears just felt clunky, the stories cheesy & the hyper masculinity got old after the 3rd game. It still looks beautiful (Gears 5) but just doesn't have the staying power of other shooters imo. But obviously they sell MILLIONS of units, so props to the fans who like these games, I'm sure the Coalition will show some sweet tech demos soon.
