It was good. Not great, but good. It didn't deviate too much from their formula. If you like Ubisoft games the show gave you more to look forward to. Not much new IP. Avatar was a weird addition.
@RedShirtRod I agree. Avatar was strange. I know zero people who really got into that universe. Everyone thought the movie was fine but it faded rapidly. Must have some deeper fans out there though somewhere.
And yeah I thought the show was soood even though there were only a couple things that interested me. Mario Rabbids looks great! The first one was awesome and this looks even better. And riders republic catches my eye. Rock smith is a cool system actually. Not into Far Cry though. But looks good for its fans.
Overall a solid B, maybe even a low A if I could get past my preferences.
D, personally, and only because Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope was there; and even that got leaked early by Nintendo.
Avatar looks fine but no gameplay
I'm actually really excited about Mario + Rabbids though I shiver at the thought of Rabbid/Luma cross breeding
The Vaas expansion in Far Cry 6 looked pretty neat as someone who thought the most engaging of that series was Far Cry 3 partially because of Vaas
yeah that's basically it this was a total slog. I honestly can't wait for the Microsoft and Square conferences tomorrow now
Probably give it like a D
It was OK and Avatar was a big surprise - positive surprise in my opinion with the sequel(s) supposedly coming soon too. The CGI looked great but until I see game-play, I can't get excited.
At least the bar isn't too high for MS & Bethesda's show...
No Splinter Cell again!
I thought the presentation was awesome, Rainbow Six looks amazing.. Mario Rabbids looks sick, I can't wait for these games. Avatar looks like it's gonna be fantistic game, Only for next gen consoles to, So I think this game is gonna be awesome.. Overall i would give it a B+. Fantastic show Ubisoft, Well done..
Q) How Would You Grade Today's Ubisoft Forward E3 2021 Event?
A) A tough question to answer. Whilst there was little to nothing that appealed to me, I found the overall presentation to be solid with a good mix of trailer, developer interview and gameplay. Each game shown had a decent bit of attention to it.
So whilst the lack of games for me does lower it's standing in my eyes, I would ultimately say the style and presentation for it is enough for me to rank it amongst the three higher grades.
@xMightyMatt14x, @RedShirtRod, big Avatar nuts definitely exist, as my brother is a massive fan (up until COVID upended things last year, he went on annual trips meeting up with other fans).
Also remember Disney opened up a Avatar themed section to it's park a few years ago (I think I remember hearing the launch pulled in more people than Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge's launch did?), and it had a successful Cirque du Soleil show that ran for a few years, so it definitely hasn't disappeared from the public conscience, especially with the sequel coming out next year.
Riders Republic was the best thing for me and I don't know if il actually play it lol..says it all
F - usually reserved for EA but there was nothing there that I was even slightly interested in. I was hoping to see Beyond Good & Evil 2 or a new 2D Rayman and I really don't understand why they've shelved Splinter Cell. try again next year lads.
@RR529 just seems strange that Ubisoft is doing it. For a publisher that has a fairly safe game line up taking on Avatar doesn't fit their routine. We saw Far Cry, Assassins Creed, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, and Rabbids. All pretty standard.
Not saying there isn't a market. I wouldn't have been surprised if EA, Square Enix, or even Epic was doing it. I know they mentioned it 4 years ago but it's so far out on left field from their norm that I'm still stunned Ubisoft went with it.
E - Would've rated it F if it wasn't for Mario + Rabbids.
Man, gamers are jaded...
It was underwhelming as expected. Riders Republic looks like it could be amazing though and can’t wait to give that a try. Far too much focus on Rainbow Siege and far too much talking. I would much rather see the games than all the cinematic nonsense that goes on forever. Gaming is about games not cut scenes!!!!
