We've seen varying reports about what it's like to develop for the Xbox Series S ever since its launch back in November, with some stating it's a pretty smooth process, and others suggesting it has caused a few problems.
The developer of MotoGP 21, which releases next week, fits into the former category, with producer Matteo Pezzotti recently telling Wccftech that working with the Xbox Series S was actually a surprise in many ways:
"No troubles at all, we were all surprised by the smoothness in the development of both Series X and Series S. The latter console targets a frame rate of 60 FPS and a resolution of 1440p (dynamic)."
Pezzotti also mentioned during the interview that the Xbox Series X and PS5 "leave a lot of space for improvements in the future," and that the ability to offer a stable 60FPS experience is the most important thing for the game.
If you're interested in checking out MotoGP 21, it officially arrives on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S next Thursday, April 22, and you can pre-order it right now from the Microsoft Store (note: Smart Delivery doesn't appear to be included).

It’s just those lazy devs who don’t want to improve scalability and flexibility of their crappy engines. Learn something from moon studios.
I think Remedy explained it best.
It depends on the game engine being used and how they make use of the resources.
90% of devs will have no issues.
@The_New_Butler it is pitifully small, but still for me that holds master chief collection, sod2, the division 2, outriders, Alan wake, deus ex hr, vanquish. The former few being optimized for series x|s. Loving the fast load times and quick resume is awesome.
@The_New_Butler just saw that newegg has the Seagate ssd for $186 befor tax
I can't help but wonder how much more powerful consoles must get before we'll only see reports of developers praising its ease to develop for instead of the odd criticism...
If an Xbox One is easy to develop for already, then the Series S should be a walk in the park. Let alone developing on the Series X, but no there's still "a lot of space for improvements in the future"...
A lot to improve. Not just some minor tweaks and fiddles, no a LOT. Maybe developers should stop working with custom engines, no matter how good or suitable these are for their games, and 'git gud' with the proper engines, such as Unreal Engine, which is fully scalable and can be used to produce the most wonderful results, even on relatively modest platforms.
@The_New_Butler
I have the S on my night stand with a portable monitor setup and the external Seagate 1TB, it's wonderfull!
I know this is a Xbox site but I don't like the idea of Series S at all. If devs in the future push back their development so they can have the hame on the two consoles I will be seriously pissed
MotoGP bike goes brrrrr
@AFCC Hate having the hame on each console....
@AFCC I agree I thought die hard xbox fans were all about having the most powerful console
When DirectML Super Resolution tech is ready for Series S|X, Series S longevity is guaranteed and no one will ask this question anymore.
@AFCC Same here. I wish MS made it $400 with the same specs as the xbox series x but digital only..like Sony did with theirs.
@AFCC Thankfully you have a thing called choice! I chose the Series S and it's working out just fine for me
Love my XSX & XSS, great consoles.
The S, although it's my bedroom console, damn it's so small and sleek, performs well, I honestly think I would have been happy if I hadn't been able to get the X for a while. It's just a really nice bit of tech.
@SegataSanshiro because there are no updates regarding that other than "being actively researched right now" said by Jason Ronald sometime ago in a podcast i forgot. People also need to see the upscaling quality of DirectMLSR on Xbox before they are sold by the idea.
Really wish MS get it on the level of DLSS 2.1 or better when it's ready to be used by developers. Any worse than that (DLSS ≤1.9) then i gladly take native 900p or lower.
@Darylb88 that's not the point. I am just scared that devs might scale back a game just to match series S specs.
@AFCC If the developer has a solid game engine then scalability won't be an issue. In the PC market scalability is essential and many games developed for console (Like Xbox games) are developed for a broad range of PC's too.
We have already seen this with games like Cyberpunk/AC Valhalla how you can scale up rather than down
