Xbox 360 has randomly started trending on Twitter today, and it's sent us down a nostalgic rabbit hole that's put a collective tear in our eyes for all the happy memories.
Just a quick scroll down the trending mentions has had us revisiting the glory days of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, to remembering some of the other classic games we played at the beginning of the console's life, such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Fans have been sharing their favourite moments of the generation, which has got everyone talking.

Some even took the time to revisit more niche elements of the Xbox 360 era, such as the ability to take your avatar into group Netflix parties, or the iconic 1 vs 100 gameshow that was the talk of the town for a while. We're still a bit bitter about making the 100, but never managing to reach the podium.
There was also another mention that proved popular, and that was the original Xbox 360 dashboard, which served as the birth to many features we know and love today. Achievements, party chat, the store - they were all rolled out in the console's infancy. Little did we know how much the dashboard and overall UI would change over the years. Sometimes it's good to look back and see how far we have come.
Xbox has grown exponentially over the years. Even looking at the beginning of the Xbox 360's life cycle to its end you can see a massive leap. Moving onto the Xbox One, and now the Xbox Series X|S, only further proves the great strides Microsoft is making to fine tune the console experience. But there's still a warm place in our heart for those early Xbox 360 days, when we'd run home from school or work and buddy up with our friends in some multiplayer games.
Those were the days!

Loved having to buy an external wireless antenna 😅
Loved the 360 days, great times.
For me though, when I think about getting into online gaming (which I barely do these days) the OG Xbox comes to mind. Gamertags, voice chat, stable servers. Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon, awesome days.
Of course the 360 improved on all that, and added more features too, like achievements, but the OG was a real innovator in the console space and where I really got into online gaming.... Still, I loved the XBOX 360, it has a shout at being the greatest console ever, and cemented my preference for the XBOX platform. Wonderful times.
I did also enjoy SOCOM on PS2 around that time, anyone remember that? PS2 online was so clunky compared to OG XB, a huge gulf between the two experiences.
I'm upset they don't have the Simpsons and xmen arcade games available anymore.
I was mostly into PS3 at the start of that gen and not too enthused by XB. Finally got it after discovering everything 3rd party ran like a dog on PS3, and ended up really liking it by half-way through, which I didn't expect at the start.

Too many to mention.
I recall during the launch it was near impossible to get a 360. I eventually had to frantically grab a so-called Platinum or Gold bundle with like 5 games. Blew my budget out the window. But it was so worth it. Through the years I ended up with three. I loved the upgradeable hard drive on the top of the chassis. I still have the black 360 S in my entertainment center today. I keep it there because it still plays the OG Xbox games I own and it is nice to bring it up every so often.
I tried the PS3 briefly in the overlap years, but I found myself always returning to the 360. So I think I sold that PS3 to fund the black 360 S.
Xbox 360 was one of the best consoles ever.
@Flurbdurb Aw man, you can't just post pictures of the Blades. I still miss them WAY too much. #thehurtisreal
All kidding aside though, I wouldn't even mind if there would have been an option to add the original Blade theme to current Xbox One/Series X menu. Or even to the good old Xbox 360. I'd put it back in a heart beat. It was so nostalgic and such a great moment to be an Xbox owner. Good times, for sure.
Ah yes, the old blades. I remember using someone's 360 that was never updated with the old blades menu a long time ago, even then it was sort of a nostalgic experience for me. It was Microsoft's second attempt at a console UI, right after the original Xbox menu and sort of an updated version of that. I think I preferred it over the later 360 menu, just quicker and cleaner.
I miss 360 Uno.
Back before the dashboard became an ad infested mess.
Loved being able to have each blade a different image.
The 360 was a great console I my fondest memories were of oblivion + shivering isles and a ton of ghost recon multi player plus some rainbow six. For whatever reason the xbox one just didint have the same multi player pull for me I am hoping the series x rekindles that magic with my friends and I.
@Poskito ya that was bad ass and the new bigger hardrives they released can you imagine if games were the size they are now back then
Another thing I loved about the 360 the changeable face plates.
It was the heyday of multiplayer gaming. As a single player, X360 is far from my favorite console (esp. with that nasty RROD). However, X360 raised the standards of console gaming to a higher level: flawless online gaming, HDD, digital gaming, entertainment apps, etc.
The Xbox 360 is the greatest console ever created. The controller was nearly flawless, it had a selection of games over 10 years that had breadth and depth. The OS at the end of its life ran incredibly smoothly. Kinect integration actually worked at the system level: I used to use voice control all the time and it always worked. It had updated ports of old games and the Avatar system was a laugh, especially across games like Crash Course. And of course it had a slick and unbearable online service that was worth the £40 a year to play, if only to play Perfect Dark online with my mates.
Memories for me are having a crazy long internet cable going across 3 rooms to play COD multiplayer, leaving the pub with my mates at last orders knowing I’d be playing online til early hours, being absolutely amazed by Oblivion until it caused my RROD. Heartbroken and end of my MS love affair until my Series X last month.
Also loved super bomber man on that thing as well. Bought a red ray drive at some point. Remember those things! Think I had Children of Men. Wonder if they still exist somewhere 🤣
Definitely miss the simplicity of the blades, ease of getting into a voice chat and playing my music during any game / over most cutscenes. Still excited to dive back into Series X after being on an xbox one hiatus for the last couple of years. Hope Xbox updates the UI later this Fall
The good old days
Still my favorite console of all time and still use mine all the time.
@VisitingComet1
Please insert disk 3 to continue. Blue Dragon had 3 disks. A few others had 4.
Left 4 Dead was a great time. I would get a few beers and play until early morning. Fun times.
