The Medium developer Bloober Team has said it is working on a new title with a popular games publisher, leading many to believe it could be a new Silent Hill game.
The developer hinted it was working on an existing IP with a “very famous gaming publisher” for more than a year in a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, and CEO Piotr Babieno later told the publication that he can’t reveal who it is, but he's “pretty sure when people realize we’re working on it, they will be very excited.”
“In fact, we've been working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we're doing this with a very famous gaming publisher. I can't tell you who. I can't tell you what the project is, but I'm pretty sure when people realize we're working on it, they will be very excited.”
Speculation has immediately linked the developer to Silent Hill, but as Video Games Chronicle has reported, Konami has seemingly already outsourced a Silent Hill game to a “prominent Japanese developer”. While it could suggest two Silent Hill games are in the works, this is something VGC’s sources are unable to confirm. Reportedly, Konami originally reached out to Supermassive Games, the team behind The Dark Pictures Anthology, but it never panned out.
As of now, the Bloober Team connection is pure speculation, but it does beg the question as to what else the team could be working on if not. We could be hearing more about a Silent Hill game this Summer, as the series’ composer has teased an announcement coming that fans have been “hoping to hear about”.

I think Bloober Team fits the bill quite right since their games are all about psychological horror, which Silent Hill is as well. Although I wouldn't get my hopes up for a traditional Silent Hill game (maybe that will be made by that Japanese developer) but instead a step-up sort of like Resident Evil 7 where there's a first-person perspective instead mixed in with classic Silent Hill elements. Because that's what Bloober is the best at, just look at the first Layers of Fear. That game was absolutely brilliant in terms of how the developers managed to manipulate the camera angles in order to mess with your mind. That's definitely something I'd love to see in a Silent Hill game. Don't just give us more of the same, but give us a new and refreshing experience.
Makes you wonder if the rumours of 2 Silent Hill games are true.
Maybe the 'Japanese dev' is doing a mainline game, and Blooper are doing a spin-off psychological horror style that doesn't focus on action as much.
I just hope if that's true, the mainline game isn't locked to PS5 like some rumours suggest.
EA: Dead Space
Sound good to me. Blooper games really know how to create an atmosphere. Blair Witch created the film feel spot on, Layers of Fear 2 caught the silent film/German expressionism feel perfectly too.
So I reckon they'd give it a very good go.
Please don't be silent Hill, I've been waiting a very long time for a silent hill remake and this team isn't the one I would want to make it.
No offence to them but their games are average 6/10 games to me and are quite short
