If getting a Pulse Red Xbox Series X controller wasn't enough, Rare is also attaching a free in-game emote for Sea of Thieves alongside it.
To celebrate Valentine's Day, anyone who picks up the Pulse Red controller will also gain access to the "I Love You" emote in Sea of Thieves. You'll be able to sail the seven seas, declaring your love for friends, enemies, or even shopkeepers. How nice!
It's unclear how the emote is distributed, but we're going to assume it's a code in the box. Influencers were also treated to the Pulse Red Xbox Series X controller earlier this week, along with a pack of stickers. This controller is certainly making the rounds and we can't wait to get our hands on it ourselves.
Will you be picking up the Pulse Red Xbox Series X controller? Let us know in the comments below.

Wow, the state of the f-ing world today: get a free, bloody useless and totally disposable, non-tangible "emote", when buying an almost $100 controller...
And that is supposed to persuade people? (shakes head in disbelief)
@ThanosReXXX
Seems like a pretty dramatic reaction . Let me use that same mentality in response to your overly dramatic response.
Wow, the state of the f-ing internet forums today: get something for free to go with a cool new color (giving people options) that is actually closer to 50 and not 100 dollars....
And you found this worth complaining about?
(shakes head in disbelief)
@Stonecarver That seems like a pretty dramatic reply. Smh.
@Stonecarver Not dramatic at all, just kinda annoyed, is all. Admittedly, I'm in a bit of a mood these days, due to all the COVID restrictions and all, so that's probably seeping through as well.
But having said all that, I honestly don't see any added value in getting a free emote when buying a controller, much less see it as an added incentive to buy said controller, so to me personally there's no added value to it whatsoever.
@ThanosReXXX apologies for the snarky reply. I was in a mood yesterday . The issue I have is, why does there have to be the added value? The added value is the different color scheme . Depending on where you get the controller , it's either 5 dollars more or the exact cost. That is the norm for multicolored controller. What they are giving us is literally free. Not to mention , it is added value to some Sea of Thieves players. I think the complaint would be warrented if this controller was actually closer to 100 dollars like you falsely stated.
Maybe I would better understand this if you told me what you think they should give us for free to give this value?
@Stonecarver No offense taken, so no apologies needed. You did misunderstand, though: what I meant was that the digital "freebie" doesn't add any extra value whatsoever, and doesn't feel like an added incentive/trigger to me to persuade me to get this controller.
I wasn't criticizing the controller but the free emote that you get with it. I just find it stupid, and a prime example of today's disposable society. The Fortnite crowd and such will probably be cheering wildly in favor of these kinds of offerings, but to me it means absolutely nothing.
I do like the controller, so I wouldn't need any promotional extras to persuade me to get it, and in my humble opinion, it also shouldn't be necessary to add anything extra. It's already a limited edition controller, so that in and of itself should already be more than enough of a promotion towards triggering the target audience.
P.S.
I'm in IT-related sales & marketing myself, so perhaps I'm also looking at this with a slightly different view compared to the average person. That might clear things up a bit more, perhaps.
I see your point. When its treated as an incentive to purchase something ....lackluster would be the word I am looking for.I dont really pay much attention to marketing these days. Im not sure how big of a deal it is.
Devils advocate to my previous post; while its strange for me to say , I can see this as taking advantage of the die hard Sea Of Thieves fans. I was heavily ino WoW and there are complitionists who have to collect everything. I will addmit , emotes rub me the wrong way too. I think its ok to have emotes under a paywall if that paywall is in game currency or achievements . It feels a bit shady when the only what you can obtain emotes is by paying real world money. "Look at me, I got this cool emote and i have it and you dont because I boight a 60 dollar controller" Whike no one is forcing us to spend money it still feels wrong.
