The Callisto Protocol was announced during The Game Awards last night and is bearing a striking resemblance to another beloved series.

Set to launch in 2022, The Callisto Protocol is a futuristic horror game arriving on consoles and PC. While no gameplay was shown, the trailer seemed heavily influenced by Dead Space, most likely because the project is being helmed by Glen Schofield, creator of the Dead Space series. Schofield's team at the newly formed Striking Distance Studios are working on the project.

The official site description reads:

"Set on Jupiter’s moon Callisto in the year 2320, The Callisto Protocol is a next-generation take on survival horror. The game challenges players to escape the maximum security Black Iron Prison and uncover its terrifying secrets. A blend of horror, action, and immersive storytelling, the game aims to set a new bar for horror in interactive entertainment."

Along with Back 4 Blood seemingly being a spiritual successor to the Left 4 Dead series, it seems many classic franchises are returning as entirely new IPs. We can't wait to see what The Callisto Protocol has in store for us.
