With the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S now available around the world, some of us are going to find ourselves in possession of multiple Xbox consoles in the home over the coming weeks and months.
If you're planning on giving your old Xbox Ones to family members, you might want to share your Xbox Game Pass membership with three, four or even five of them, and Microsoft is on the case.
Questioned about this on Twitter, here's what Xbox boss Phil Spencer had to say:
As Spencer notes, a one console household can already share Game Pass using the 'Make This My Home Xbox' feature, but a 'Family Plan' would open up the subscription to even more consoles around the home.
Are you hoping to see Xbox implement this in the near future? Give us your thoughts in the comments.

And it starts. $69.99 Gamepass ultimate with PC, Xbox Gold rolled into the service including a family plan.....
@Gaming365247 If that's the annual price, I'd take it.
@NotoriousWhiz that's less than Game Pass Ultimate costs annually now, though 😂
I would be up for this. When I get my Series X In was going to give my Xbox One to my son and was wondering how Gamepass would work in that scenario.
@Tasuki You can already share Ultimate Gamepass with one other Xbox in the household. By making one of the Xbox the Home console and vice versa with another family member with an Xbox account. I share with my daughter in this way.
If it costs less than £100 a year, I'd actually get it.
We're a gaming family, and the price of hardware, games, and now services, especially when times'd by 2, 3 and 4, is a huge barrier to playing games.
@PGS_71 That only works if you have one daughter interested in playing. If she has another sibling, that doesn't work. I.e. 2 xboxes, 4 people.
@NotoriousWhiz Yes I know, that's what I said. You can already share Ultimate Gamepass with ONE other Xbox.
Was just pointing it out. Obviously a family plan where you have 3 or more in one household would be a good option.
@NotoriousWhiz And providing I'm logged in to the Xbox that is not set as my Home Xbox, my other daughter can use Ultimate Gamepass too at the same time. If I'm not using the Xbox, both my daughters can play any Gamepass game and online using my membership.
@PGS_71 Correct, it only works if you give them access to your account. That's not really a good solution for most people.
Nintendo does that with NSO and if it's anywhere nearly as good a value/price as that, this will be great.
@Tasuki I do this now with my series x and Xbox one x. I just set my daughter’s Xbox one x as my “home Xbox” in the settings of her Xbox and on my series x I have access to all my games by being signed into my live account that I subscribe to gamepass ultimate with.
I'm still using my 'upgrade from gold' and 3 months free from MS rewards. Just a few hundred short from another 3 month free now. Depending on price, I might consider the family option but I'm also considering letting game pass expire as I don't play enough games to justify it.
@NotoriousWhiz I would have thought for most family members in the same household this would not be a problem. Certainly I prefer to share my Ultimate Gamepass with my daughters rather than paying more. Each to their own I guess.
