Update: This update is now live on Xbox and is a 16GB download. See the full patch notes below.
Original story: A new hotfix has been released for Cyberpunk 2077, the only catch is it's not on Xbox systems just yet. CD Projekt Red says it's working on having the update out "as soon as possible" for this platform.
Some of the Xbox/console-specific improvements include improved reflections quality and a fix for "The Wasteland" achievement being stuck at 97%. Perhaps the highlight of this latest update is the change made to "braindances" - reducing the risk of inducing epileptic symptoms.
"Modified the flashing effect on braindances to reduce the risk of inducing epileptic symptoms. The effect has been smoothed out and the flashes reduced in frequency and magnitude."
See our story from earlier this week for more information about this. Below are the full patch notes:

I can't say that these are the fixes I was hoping for. I have only played the opening mission so far and that was not the smoothest of experiences with one big 'freeze' (I thought it had crashed but sorted itself out after 5-10secs - one of the reasons I stopped playing to wait for patches). I am glad that they have fixed the Flashing and as quickly as they have - but I do think they need to do quite a bit more work on it.
I almost think I may wait now until the Series X patch because by then, they may have 'fixed' many of the issues. In my short time, I saw too many issues that I really don't want to play it and have that as my 'lasting' impression. I know Valhalla had 'bugs' and issues, but at least they were quite minor and not as frequent as my first hour or so in Cyberpunk.
@BAMozzy Hey pal, just for the information, what platform are you using to play the game ? One X or Series X ?
I just bought the game yesterday, cause I wanted to support the developper, but I'm going to wait at least a month to launch it (I'm playing on Series X).
I'm not sure I will have the patience to wait until the real "next-gen" update, but at least a couple of patchs should render the experience smoother...
I believe in CD projet. It is obvious that the game was rushed to be launched before christmas. But at this stage, actual players are beta-testers, no less.
I'm sure this will be a glorious experience to play... in six months ^^
I played the start of the game on my One X and the opening actually played pretty well but as soon as you went outside it was noticeably lower resolution, with the first driving section pretty poor framerate wise. Since then I've played it on my Series S for another hour or so and its been a much better experience overall, indoors the resolution looks to be lower but outside it looks better with more npc's and the framerate is rock solid.
Mess of a game. Keep fixing and I might play when the real series x version makes an appearance until then plenty to playing that works fine. Funny thing is I have the game from when I purchased the one x cyberpunk console. But have no desire to download it to my series x what so ever.
I’ll probably never pick up this game due to how unfinished it is and I’ll never support this ‘release it now fix it later’ mentality a lot of developers have used, I remember back on older systems where if a game released in the same state as this game it would be considered a terrible game
@Bobobiwan I'm playing on Series X. The game had a number of distracting 'glitches' and a big 'freeze for about 5-10secs that I thought I was going to have to quit the game and reload - the game froze and the noise was 'bad' but as I went to quit, it suddenly started again. I had some dialogue talking over dialogue, I had a subtitle stuck on screen - even though I turn subtitles off and the only way to get rid of it was to turn subtitles on and then back off etc.
All this was before I got to my apartment starting from the Street storyline. I don't want to say where and what issues in case that is 'spoiler' - even though its been basically shown in videos prior to release but all I will say is that trying to carry a body from a bath was hilarious with the glitching.
From my perspective, the performance itself wasn't too bad - I opted to go for visuals over performance in the settings as I thought the game would 'look' better and perhaps be a bit more stable as its capped at a lower frame rate so of its not as 'optimised' as it could be, it should at least play more consistently.
My issues weren't really with the frame rate but the glitches and some scenes were really not great - one area had such low res shadows, it was terrible so I thought it was better to wait.
I am in no rush to play it - I have so many games in my backlog to play that I can wait for the Series X patch and by then, I expect CDPR to fix a lot. I know the Witcher had bugs too, but I played that at launch non-stop for over 100hours. I had completed the game, all '?'s on the map and all but the Gwent, racing and fist fighting side quests long before the final release of the free DLC that came out in the first 10wks and this seems much worse - all of that was before I could actually free roam in Night City so I think its better I wait.
I can see it has so much potential so I am willing to wait than play through it - especially as I know it will be getting a Series X patch. If the game was actually getting a Series X version release and the console didn't have BC, I would of waited for that rather than buy and play on XB1X. I pre-ordered before the Series X was announced too but can wait as long as necessary.
More bugs than bugsnax I got game on 9th on disk played for 90 mins & decided to wait so back to my 120+ hours in Valhalla. I'm sure CDPR will bring game upto snuff at least on PS4 Pro XB1X but I really hope next generation patch is not far off as I will do my 2nd & 3rd playthroughs then.
@BAMozzy Thanks for sharing your experience !
So now I'm sure I'm gonna wait to play it - just like you, I have a backlog which seems to be infinite, so it won't be a problem.
I will wait till the Series X proper update shows off.
I unfortunately only own an Xbox One X, and I still have have my pre-ordered copy of the game from GameStop, still sealed. Guess I’m going to have to play the waiting game until it’s vastly improved.
@Bobobiwan don’t buy games to support a dev. Especially broken games. Tell you something if EA had released this game the internet would be going mad at all the bugs.
@sandman89 I understand what you say, but it's not just for the support.
This game was on top of my most anticipated games for years, now.
I was really looking for it. I really think (and I could be mistaken) that this is an exceptionnal game.
I love CD project, I love how they treat their fans, their players. They constatly update their titles, they bring free DLCs, and they work their stories.
And I really think they did put their best efforts into this project.
This project needs to succeed for them. And more importantly, in my opinion, it deserves to succeed.
But yes, the game is still in beta, at this point. Or it seems to be.
And Internet has made its point about it. And that's a fair point.
I think the guys who made them rush it for christmas understand now that maybe it was a bad call.
The game should have had four or five more months, and ditch the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
It's a mess, I know. They know it too. But I'm confident they'll fix that in no time.
It's ok, I can wait.
@Bobobiwan ok
I downloaded this update but the overall install size of the game didn’t change, around 59gb 🤔
Having this game for Xmas - I have been trying to find a series x to buy, but not had any luck in finding one yet. Looks like i will end up playing this on my Xbox 1x Scorpio edition instead.
What type of xbox are you all playing on ?
@Bobobiwan Aye. I agree with your posts.
I'm on the One X and waited until last night to open my preorder. I went Corpo life path and absolutely am loving this game!!
I had two issues 3.5 hours in:
1. A freeze and shutdown of my console but was up and running in about 2 minutes.
2. Was in a BD and it only showed my car outside the building. A quick reload of an autosave fixed that.
Nothing game breaking this far, and currently my friend is playing it and nothing so far. Still alot if work to be done, yet the game (as some have posted) can be enjoyed and completed even as it currently stands. A plus for the hotfix, but cant wait to see the final end product.
I will finally have a Series X soon. Cyberpunk 2077 is the game I most looked forward to this year. But now even playing it on Series X seems like a hassle, since it's mainly running the Xbox One version and still freezes, still crashes on Series X.
There are several games already optimized for Series X. I might try to ignore Cyberpunk until it gets an optimized version — probably 6-12 months from now.
@Bloodborne75 nothing game breaking for me on Series X too
I got stuck once while talking to victor and had to reload. a few visual glitches here and there but nothing preventing me from playing atm
@demian Glad that you can enjoy the game! It will get even better with time as The Witcher 3 did I'm expecting, yet regardless, going to ride it out. Game on!!
I'm gonna put a calendar event so I can consider this game releases December 10, 2021.
