There's been a lot of discussion surrounding the Xbox Series X version of Assassin's Creed Valhalla over the past week, with one report suggesting the game was suffering from performance issues on the system.
In response, Ubisoft has unveiled Title Update 1.04, which not only promises to provide an "improved experience" on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, but also adds a 60FPS option for the latter.
Here are the key patch notes (you can find the full rundown on the Ubisoft site):
Graphics/Performance Mode Introduction
Added an option to the game that allows players to choose between Performance or Visual Quality.
Feature breakdown:
- This option is available for Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5.
- Choosing Performance allows the game to adapt the resolution and graphic settings to maintain 60 FPS.
- Choosing Quality enables the game to run maximum resolution and graphic settings while maintaining 30 FPS.
- Default values since the launch of the game are as follows:
- Xbox Series X / PlayStation 5: Performance
- Xbox Series S: Quality
Game improvements
Performance and Stability
- Improved stability and performance.
- (Xbox Series) Improved experience on Xbox Series S | X consoles including screen tearing
- (PC) Addressed a VRAM/RAM leakage issue when alt tabbing to desktop.
Save Games
- Corrected some instances where Load Game would not display save games correctly.
- Renamed Cloud saves to make them more distinguishable from regular saves.
- Previously the cloud save was only highlighted with a Cloud icon. Now they’ll be called, for example, “Manual Save Cloud”
- Removed Cloud saves from the Save menu. This will ensure that it cannot be overwritten unintentionally.
- Added a notification when a cloud save retrieval has failed.
This title update will be live for Assassin's Creed Valhalla on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S beginning 7AM EDT, 12PM GMT on Thursday, November 26th, and has a size of just over 5GB.

That's cool, i will wait for some patched vs unpatched comparison videos on youtube
Hopefully an update on a buggy Achievement that I have just realised didn't pop - the one for reaching England. Considering I have cleared numerous regions to 100%, as well as got achievements only possible in England, I hope they fix this...
I guess I could 'quickly' blast through the starting section again, after creating a manual save to ensure I can jump forward again, but I would rather the update fixes this...
@BAMozzy I still haven't got mine for doing a standing stone and there's a secret achievement that 30% of players have done that I haven't received. Haven't looked it up yet but seeing as I'm on the last portion with all of England fully completed I think it's safe to say it's bugged.
I don't see why the framerates are being focused on so much. There's about a half-dozen game breaking bugs I've found and had to reload old saves on. Good FPS is a nicety when you have issues like missions refusing to continue.
It’s good to see they’ve addressed the screen tearing issue. Hopefully they’ve eliminated it completely.
What I'm looking forward the most: for bucks to drop antlers! I have not seen a single antler drop and need them for some side quests!
Great to see a 30fps quality mode, in games like this I would rather have more eye candy than a 60fps mode.
hopefully I can finally close that damn buggy door now
@graysoncharles is your profile gif the band red?
I am a sucker for 60 FPS and I think that affects the experience much more than resolution. So don’t really care about the 30 FPS quality mode. I just spent a good two hours in my Xbox Series X with this game. Screen tearing issue has been greatly improved, but still there at times. Just not as noticeable anymore.
Hope they manage to fix it completely in future updates
I have a quick question, for those who have series X already. Is it possible to play all xbox one games or not? Games like ghost recon breakpoint? For example? That part wasnt clear for me if its full backward.
@The-Chosen-one All Xbox One games except for Kinect titles
