Although Microsoft has already locked in The Bard's Tale ARPG: Remastered and Resnarkled as one of next week's Xbox Game Pass releases, inXile Entertainment has now shared additional information about this returning classic on its official website along with an announcement trailer.
You'll be pleased to hear it's an "Xbox Play Anywhere" title - meaning your saves and achievements for the game can be accessed across both Xbox One and Windows 10. If you decide to purchase the game, you'll only have to buy it once and will be able to play across both platforms.
Here's a bit about The Bard's Tale - which was originally released in 2004 on the Xbox and PlayStation 2 - from inXile's blog post:
The Bard’s Tale ARPG is a classic in its own right; with fast-action combat, a hilarious cast of characters, a sprawling game world, and top-notch voice acting by Cary Elwes (The Bard), and narration by the legendary Tony Jay.
In addition to slinging snark or politeness as you see fit, you’ll be able to adapt your character through the allocation of skills and skill points you earn, and Bard songs you'll learn. Along with all the fun things you’ll be able to swing, husk, flail, parry, pluck, and drink, you’ll also have the accompaniment of various magical creatures and compatriots who will be all too willing to follow you in your adventures to wherever you want to go…
One other interesting fact is that it also happens to be the last game of the existing Bard's Tale series to join the Xbox Game Pass service.
Will you be trying this one out when it arrives on Xbox Game Pass next week? Did you play the original release? Leave a comment below.

Oh I love this game! I never cared much for the traditional Bards tale games, but this one I absolutely love! Look forward to playing it again, for the ... 4th time?
Sadly never finished it, this time I might finally do so! I’m surely buying this game, even if I plan to subscribe to GamePass later on (unless they charging $60 for it 🙃)
Edit: side note, if the AAA game InXile is working on is a Witcher-like sequel to THIS bards tale, musical humor and all... I’ll be the happiest person in the world!
I will definitely be checking this out!
One thing I wanted to add: it’s minor, and I would still had bought this if only to support the game [yet again after buying it so many times] but I really [still] wish they would add the original XBox version of the fame to BC.
Further wishful thinking: how awesome would it be if Smart Delivery was somehow extended to OG and 360 titles? Slot your copy of Bard Tale, get the native One X or Series X version to play.
