Microsoft confirmed during its Inside Xbox show on Thursday that the company will be showing gameplay from its lineup of Xbox Game Studios in July. Psychonauts 2 developer Double Fine was one of the development teams mentioned, and its founder Tim Schafer has elaborated on this further.
Schafer provided an update via both YouTube (watch it above) and Psychonauts 2's Fig campaign page, noting that the team had originally intended to drop "beautiful, exciting , psychedelic" gameplay of the title at E3 2020 before the show was cancelled. However, Schafer has confirmed that plans have now been "locked back in place" for July.
"As our good pal Matt Booty announced yesterday on Inside Xbox 20/20, there will be an Xbox Game Studios focussed showcase in July, and Psychonauts 2 will be a part of it, oh yes!"
In the YouTube update, the Double Fine boss also talked more about how the team has been adapting to the workplace challenges presented by COVID-19, highlighting some of the company's new hires, and even showing titbits of Psychonauts 2 itself. It's an entertaining watch, so we recommend checking out the full thing above!

Gameplay? Well, here's hoping...
Excellent, nearly forgot that Microsoft has contracted Double Fine. The amount of exclusives is looking pretty nifty so far for me, with this, Scorn, and The Medium looking very interesting indeed.
Not hyping myself up but this is good news.
@TheNewButler Ah yes, I forgot that it will come out on Sony hardware as well. Full Throttle 2 though, probably not
This is actually kind of disappointing to me. I was hoping they were going to show off something other than Psyconauts 2. These guys would be great for a Banjo reboot!
