Gears 5 Xbox Series X Tease

It's now been six months since the release of Gears 5 for Xbox One and PC (as well as Xbox Game Pass) which spurred on "the biggest launch week of any Xbox Game Studios title this generation," with more than three million players enjoying the game throughout its opening week alone.

There haven't been any announcements regarding the Gears of War franchise on Xbox Series X just yet, but we've had our first tease courtesy of Xbox head Phil Spencer. Speaking via Twitter, he posted a picture of an apparently 'enhanced' version of the game that he was viewing alongside Mike Rayner - Studio Technical Director at Gears 5 developer The Coalition.

Putting two and two together, it would appear that The Coalition are working on an enhanced version of Gears 5 for the upcoming Xbox Series X. There are still plenty of questions to be answered though, such as how the developer would take advantage of the new system, as well as how Xbox Series X's "Smart Delivery" feature could factor into an enhanced version of the game. Will we get a re-release? Who knows.
