The medieval combat simulator and role-playing game Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord just hit early access on Steam. It's got plenty of Xbox fans wondering when this prequel to the previous entry will arrive on their own system.

The bad news is it likely won't be galloping onto Microsoft's current console any time soon, according to the game's official Twitter account. Although its developer TaleWorlds Entertainment has always said it would be released on consoles, its social account clarified this would happen later on – with the PC version being the sole focus for now:

This was restated in a follow-up tweet, and the developer added how this had been mentioned in "blogs and interviews" for years now. Some fans of the previous release appear to have been confused by incorrect listings online for the second title. Others have seemingly lost patience after waiting roughly eight years for the game to launch.

As noted by IGN, it took six years for the existing title Mount and Blade: Warband to be ported across to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Do you think we'll be seeing this one before or after the arrival of the Xbox Series X? Tell us below.
