Folks who picked up the Xbox One on launch day - or 'Day One' - were rewarded with an exclusive code bundled into the box.
When redeemed, the code gave you an utterly pointless 'Day One' achievement that was worth absolutely no Gamerscore points at all. Also, it unlocked the ability to use the Day One branding as your gamerpic. Naturally, everyone who bought the console after launch day missed out. Tears running down their faces, they've been searching, endlessly searching for a way to get their hands on the reward that they so dearly crave. eBay has not been kind, offering up Day One cards for extortionate prices.
Now though, CDKeys.com have stepped in to offer the codes for sale. They're a reputable company, but we've no idea how they've come across enough of these codes to be able to sell them. The price? Just £14.99.
Yes, for £15 - oherwise known as 'more than the price of practically every ID@Xbox game', you can display that Day One gamerpic with pride and rest easy in the knowledge that you've got that Day One achievement locked away on your profile for most people to never see...

Shoulda saved mine and sold it for more than the xbox is worth...
It's sad that people care that much about it to spend tons of money on eBay for this. As my dad says, "That, and a dollar, will get you a Coke". (Even if it's more like $2 now-a-days.)
I have it as my Gamerpic, but mines legit.
"you can display that Day One gamerpic with pride and rest easy in the knowledge that you've got that Day One achievement locked away on your profile for nobody to ever see. Although, if you're desperate enough to buy this, then we're sure that you're the sort of person who would add it to your profile showcase..."
That was a little harsh. I actually do own a Day One console and until reading this was displaying the achievement on my showcase. Sad maybe, but there you go.
The irony is, it was me that posted the link to CD-Keys on this forum as I thought it was piss-poor that something (that should have been) exclusive was available generally
Think I may have (still have?) had it in my showcase too and back near the launch I thought it was a nice little nod of appreciation to those of us who bought the console at launch - especially given the overwhelmingly negative press it was getting back then and the pretty high price we paid for it relatively speaking.
I'm not so much annoyed by the fact people are buying these now but that (presumably) Microsoft are allowing them to be sold commercially in the first place. Basically renders the whole 'reward' pointless.
At least (to my knowledge) you can't buy the Day One controller..which is the only thing with any Day One branding. I'm basing this on the fact that my controller 'drifts' (common fault if you look at MS forums) and was told by MS support that the D1 controllers are no longer available.
@Captain_Chao5 When you say 'drifts' do you mean where a character in a game would move ever so slightly when you're not touching the stick because if so that would explain a lot
Enjoy...or not

You can buy Day 1 controllers on Ebay at least...
Day 1 Controller - brand new! 3 available....
@Captain_Chao5 Maybe harsh, but not intended to be. I have amended the wording.
I'm totally in agreement that it sucks that the thing is available to purchase. It should have been something that unlocked if you connected your machine to Xbox Live within the first week say, rather than being a standard download code that anyone could trade or sell.
@Captain_Chao5 Thanks Cap... didn't realise this was a 'thing' just thought mine had succumbed to wear and tear (it has always been creaky). I ended up buying another and my Day 1 is more of a collectors item now :-/
@BAMozzy All these saddos need to do now is Photoshop themselves into a midnight launch queue and their transformation will be complete...
I had no idea there was an achievement for something like this. Xbox One has strange achievements this year. Like the ones on Hulu, Netflix, and now I think the WWE Network has some.
