We recently helped our daughter move from college to back home for the summer. During the move, her (original) xbox one somehow lost its left side panel where the pairing button is. We are now trying to pair a wireless controller, but unable to since this panel is missing.

Is there another way to pair a wireless controller? if so, how?

@mcf57 As far as I know you need the button for a wireless controller. Some 3rd party ones you can use a cable but Xbox controllers don't use a charging cable. The only other thing I can think of if you can't find the panel after searching all her boxes and stuff is maybe contact MS about a replacement panel or looking for a local used game store and buying a panel from them.

@mcf57 sorry to hear that! Try connecting with a cable: https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/help/hardware-network/controll...

Connect your controller using a compatible micro-USB cable (or USB-C cable if you're using an Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, or Xbox Adaptive Controller).
Standard alkaline batteries won't be used to power the controller functions while you're using your controller as a wired controller.
Simply plug the micro-USB or USB-C cable into the power port on the back of the controller then plug the other end of the cable into your Xbox console. Your controller should light up and work right away.
NoteMake sure that you use a USB cable that supports data transfer.

Well, plugging the wireless controller to the back USB port of the Xbox one worked great. It paired up right away. I didn’t realize it was that easy. Thanks

@mcf57 brilliant! Yes that’s how I usually pair mine, glad it worked for you. I was a bit unsure if the fact there was a panel missing would affect it, but please to hear it still worked for you.
