Topic: Adams Venture Origins

I know this is a real longshot given the niche nature of this game and the low forum activity lately but google and youtube are failing me and I'm hopelessly stuck on a puzzle near the end of this game. If someone can help me out I'd be very grateful...

Basically there's this door that I need to unlock by solving a 3 concentric ring rotating puzzle that when aligned correctly will allow a flow of water to reach the doors locking mechanism. The problem is that these 3 rings seem to be interconnected and will only rotate in sequence and you have no control over when they stop rotating. There must be a pattern to it but I just can't see it and it's doing my head in.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can help, please put me out of my misery!

D'oh, and I was just about to chip in with a helpful "Keep rotating them till they line up, innit" tip as well...
