I mean since Xbox live was as far as i understand shut down so you can't download digital games anyway right? No need for an external then correct?

Maybe that external would make more sense being used on my xbox one cause on there you can still download full games that would likely fill up your main storage pretty darn fast.

I honestly didn't need another hardrive for my 360, I just used the stock one. Of course the 360 was the last console I bought mostly physical media for so there's that. It was till Xbox One that I went mostly digital. And to be honest once I got my Series X I just used the same hard drive that Inwas using for my Xbox One for my Series X since I never used the One anymore.

Yeah i bought the drive but forgot i don't have alot of digital games on 360. Basically almost my whole collection is on disc so that external will probably just be used for my digital games on xbox one. The main drive on it is about to burst with how much is on it.

Still don't have a series S but I'm considering one. Just to be clear is it X or S that actually has a disc drive? Definitely prefer discs over digital though. Call me a dinosaur but i like my games physical.

@Truegamer79 Series X has a drive Series S has no drive it's digital only. The only games I did get on 360 digitally were games like the TMNT Arcade game and Simpsons Arcade mostly digital only and not backwards compatible.

I have an external USB drive hooked up to my 360 Slim, as well as one of the Microsoft Hard Drives that slides into the system (the same kind that snaps on the end of the Original 360). The USB drive is only USB 2.0, so it won't work with Xbox One/Series (they need 3.0), so I figured I'd hook it up to the 360 to not waste it.

I do have quite a few digital games + DLC, but I also installed all my discs as well. That will hopefully reduce wear on the disk drive as well as making the games run faster. The 360 includes an option to install any disk, but you still have to have the disk in the drive to play it.

One more thing is that while the 360 store is shut down, you can still buy backwards compatible Original Xbox and 360 games on the Xbox One/Series store. All 360 games and any compatible Original games (most of them I think) will be in your download history on the 360, and can be redownloaded there. So you can still get some digital 360 games, just not the ones that aren't compatible with the One/Series.
