This one's a strange one and I don't know what happened.

I bought MSF 2020 from Amazon last year and redeemed it. Not sure what happened with my account on the Xbox it told me to put the pass key in which I did. But it came with a error afterwards and I can't remember the error code. So I removed it and did the whole process of logging back in again. When I went to launch the game again I got this error 0x803f8001. So I rang Xbox support up and I have the the code I got from Amazon which I told them and they said the game is redeemed on another email account to the one I've been using.

Thing is this email account does not belong to me. I have never used it nor have I heard of this account and the person I was talking to couldn't give me the full email address as she couldn't see it all. I don't understand what has happened and how my game could have transferred from my email to another one. I can only think a hack or a fraud has taken place.

Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know what has happened?

@jitzstar Have you tried contacting the seller you bought the code from. What it sounds like is that they sold you an already used code.

I bought the code from Amazon on 18 Decemeber 2021. I believe the seller must have been Amazon and not a marketplace seller. Is it even possible for them to sell a used code and for me to redeem it?

@jitzstar hi, contact Amazon about your issue. I don't know if they can do much because it's been so long since the purchase took place but that's your first port of call.

The seller should be listed when you click on the item in the Your Orders page but I suspect they will be long gone from the platform if they've been selling dodgy codes and it's been a year since you bought it.

If it was all legit on Amazon/the sellers behalf then the only thing I could think of is that perhaps a friend of yours was logged in instead of you when you redeemed it. It's not always that easy to tell. Or perhaps you've changed your e mail or something

It's not clear from your comment whether you bought and redeemed the code a year ago and have been playing the game since that time until it stopped working recently. (I'd revert back to Xbox support for this/ check your own e mails for confirmation of redemption/receipts etc).

Or whether you bought the code a year ago and only decided to redeem it recently in which case you are probably out of luck because UK consumer laws regarding digital content is riddled with loopholes that are in the companies favour. Either way, best bet in this scenario is to contact Amazon.

@ralphdibny I bought the code last year in December and redeemed a few days later. I've been playing with it since October when something happened and the error occurred on the Xbox. Can't remember the error code but when I googled it the Microsoft website said to remove the account and log back in to it. Which I did. The game was working up until a couple of weeks ago when it came up with the error 0x803f8001.

There was no one else that had access to the Xbox and I didn't have another account. I'm not sure if it's even possible that from last year till October the code got reactivated again by Amazon. I'll try to contact Amazon but not sure they'll be much help.

@jitzstar no it won't have got reactivated. Definitely sounds like an issue on Microsoft's side then.

I would contact Xbox and show them evidence, receipts, order confirmation, order history etc

See ya!
