I know this is the time of year where people.jump online to order themselves or their loved owns a gift or two, so I thought I warn you all about the Microsoft Store. Naturally this doesn't pertain to digital purchases like games just physical like consoles or controllers.

So last week I took advantage MS Black Friday sale to order a couple of controllers for my Xbox Series X. The Stellar Shift controllers. Well I was suppose to get them the by the 25th which they never came. I figured ok maybe they're delayed due to the time of year, checked my tracking info and ok says they are on the way. Well today I get an email from MS saying that I am getting a refund because the controllers were returned because they couldn't deliver it to my address. Which is bizarre. They was no reason I that it couldn't be delivered to my address, in fact I have been getting packages all week from other places that I ordered gifts from, like Amazon, New Egg and a couple.of places. Maybe there was a mixup. So I contacted MS and spoke to a nice lady and told me ways that it couldn't be sent to my address such as if I was in a gated community and after several attempts the delivery company couldn't get in, which I do not, If I used a PO Box as the delivery address, which again I did not, have a dog that prevented the delivery person from making the delivery which again I don't have. At that point the lady told me that I would have to contact UPS to see why they listed the package as non delivery. She then told me that MS refunded my money for the controllers since they couldn't be delivered.

I then told her I don't want the refund I'd rather have the controllers that I ordered which at that point she told me that I would have to reorder them since that order was closed because the money was refunded. At this point Inwas clearly annoyed how it be closed when I never got my package. Whatever so I asked her ok can a place a new order for them, which she replied yes I can. So she read back my address to me which was the same one as before and asked if the card number was correct which it was and proceeded to order them. After a few moments she tells me oh I am sorry apparently the Stellar Shift are sold out, at this point I was clearly upset and I asked well what about the two that were returned from not being able to be delivered which she said well I don't know it'd just telling me that their are sold out. Which I replied ok you don't want my money I will go do business with someone who does. And thanked her for her time and ended the call.

TLDR: So basically don't order anything physical from the MS Store cause they clearly don't know what they are doing or don't even have the product to begin with or something. Terrible way to do business.

Sounds more like an issue with the courier than with MS to be honest. Does the tracking show they've attempted delivery more than once?

I've had occasions when the courier has used the "cannot get access to the property" excuse when there's no possible reason they couldn't get access and I've been at home waiting for a delivery - always just assumed they'd run out of time and will try again the next day. I've also had a courier use the excuse that the label couldn't be read/had fallen off in transit too, so not impossible that MS is not at fault here, apart from maybe choosing a crappy courier - although from my experience they big ones (UPS etc) all about as bad as each other.

@dmcc0 Well it is the couiers fault for putting it as unable to deliver and MS for refunding my money instead of finding out the problem and then telling me they are sold out when I wanted to order another one. It's ok I just took my business elsewhere.

@Tasuki While it's frustrating, I don't think Microsoft's policy of refunding non-delivered packages differs from any of the other online retailers - I'm sure most, if not all, would do the same. It's just not cost effective for them to have someone call you back to rearrange delivery.
