Juan to know what we're up to?
Welcome to What Games Are You Playing This Weekend, also known by the uber-popular acronym WGAYPTW. This is a laid-back feature that allows us to share our upcoming weekend gaming plans with all of you. By providing a little window into our personal lives, you can learn what makes us tick as gamers and learn which writer's gaming tastes may align with yours. But it doesn’t only work one way. Once you’ve read through the words we’ve prepared, we’d love if you would head to the comments and tell us about your weekend agenda, as well. Trust us, it's the right thing to do.
With the introduction out of the way, it's time to get this party started.

GRID Autosport (Xbox 360) — I'm hooked. Even though career progression is terribly slow in the game, I can't stop pushing towards the next set of GRID championship races. Every time I have a spare hour, I'm sat at the starting line, waiting to tear up the track. Heavily flawed, but still good fun.
Metal Slug 3 (SNK Neo Geo) — I'm playing through the Metal Slug series once again, and am at the third entry in the franchise. I have absolutely no talent for 2D shooters or platform shooters, but I'm having an absolute blast all the same. I'm using the "can I complete the game in less than 10 credits" rule.
The Banner Saga (PC) — Picked this up in the Steam Summer Sale for less than a ten-spot, and I know absolutely nothing about it other than the fact that a friend of mine can't find the words to describe how good she thinks it is. From the screenshots and trailers, it looks like Dragon's Lair mixed with Final Fantasy Tactics. Sold.

I was planning to use this space to tell everyone that I'd be spending the weekend beating Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition on hard mode, but I've already done that. I've reached 100% completion, purchased all costumes, earned gold medals on all challenge stages, and unlocked every single achievement. What's surprising is that after two back-to-back playthroughs I still want more. Guess you could say that I love Guacamelee — really love it. Stay tuned for my review to hit the site by early next week.
Honestly, I'm not even sure how much time I'll have for games this weekend with all the 4th of July festivities going on around town. After about a year of putting it off, I've finally downloaded Code of Princess, and I'm hoping to spend at least a little time with that one. Bike Rider DX2: Galaxy is also likely to get my attention. I downloaded the original on a whim last summer and ended up having a great time with it. From what I've seen of DX2, it already looks like it'll top it. And that's pretty much it, I think. I'm sure Tomodachi Life will get some attention too, but that's just a small doses kind of thing.

Review duties has me braving the unsettling halls, wards, and sewers in Outlast on Xbox One. I may have gotten a bit carried away when I requested to review it because it is one scary game, maybe even the scariest I've ever played. No matter how creeped out I get, I have a strong urge to finish it just so I can brag that I did.
Thanks to Games With Gold, I'll also be booting up Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition. I platinumed the game back on PS3 and Vita but it's just so darn fun to play that I have zero qualms doing it all over again on Xbox One.
I'm going to get back into Borderlands this weekend too. It's been forever since I've explored the lands of Pandora and I've missed a ton of add-on content since I first played it back in 2009. I may even ask a friend to join in on the fun too!

Titanfall (Xbox One) — The 4th Titanfall update was recently released, and so far it has reinvigorated the game for my friends and I. From the new modes, such as Marked For Death, to the addition of Titan Burn Cards, Titanfall feels fresh. The new customization items, such as being able to choose from three Titan OS Voice Personalities, are very cool, and they give a more personal touch to the game. There has also been quite a lot of tweaking and balancing with weapons, abilities, and equipment. Respawn is doing a great job at responding to fan feedback and adapting their game.
I have also decided to buy the Titanfall Season Pass, and I really like the three DLC maps — especially the Swampland one! I think Respawn has done an excellent job designing these maps. Usually, maps in multiplayer games are so divisive, yet with Titanfall people seem to like them in general. Obviously, I like some maps more than others, but there isn't one that I absolutely hate, which is a very nice change.
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (Xbox One) — I have absolutely no idea what to expect from this game (it looks insane!) but I have heard people say good things about it on other platforms. I plan to play some of it in co-op with a friend, but I am eagerly awaiting our review on Pure Xbox by Dave to get the final verdict.

This weekend I will be brewing another batch of my Helihopter IPA so there won't be much time for gaming! If I do get some down time, I'd really like to finish the delightful Valiant Hearts, a gorgeous game with a touching story and easy going gameplay. It would be criminal for me not to play this month's free Xbox one title Guacamelee! The game is so great, I own it on every platform they've released it on so far. A fantastic platformer which oozes charm and humour while delivering a challenging and satisfying gaming experience.
So you made it this far, huh? That means it's your turn! What games are YOU playing this weekend? Share your plans with us in the comments.
