NBA 2K14 headlines this week's batch of new releases

So you're browsing your local retailer's Xbox 360 section and have no idea what new games were released this week. No one seems willing to help and you feel alone and scared. Surely, there must be a way — an easy way — to get the info on the latest releases. Rest your worried head young Spartan, because at pX we got you covered on what's hitting retail stores and the Games Store.

The sports trend continues as everyone's favourite basketball simulation makes a return. Not a whole lot is happening this week and it shows with only a compilation package and a single XBLA title.

Xbox 360 Retail

NBA 2K14 (2K Sports / $59.99) - The popular b-ball franchise returns right on track but right at the cusp of next-gen versions being released in November. With no major competition from EA, Visual Concepts is riding high with their latest entry with improvements to the dribbling and shooting mechanics that is targeted to new players. Available October 1st.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Trilogy (Ubisoft / $29.99) - The Ghost Recon games has a long-lasting history on the aging Xbox 360 console and now players can experience all three games for a budget price in this collection. The first GRAW was considered one of the first 360 titles to showcase the difference between SD and HD in 2006. GRAW 2 bested its predecessor in 2007 and last years' Future Soldier release took the series in a new futuristic setting. Available October 1st.

Xbox 360 Games Store

A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX (Aksys Games & Orgio Games / $14.99) - Better late than never, this 2.5D side-scrolling action title comes to XBLA nearly three years later after making its PC debut in 2010. The long wait means Xbox gamers get a enhanced edition, hence the EX at the end of the title. New audio and visuals, levels, enemies, bosses, weapons, abilities, control layouts and online leaderboards means this may be the definitive version. Available October 2nd.

If we're being honest here (and when are we not, right?), with GTA Online making its prime debut today, it's likely we're going to stay a little big longer in Los Santos. Not everyone will be agreeing with us however, and that's why we want to hear from you.

I am wonder does the Arkhamn pack contain the GOTY editions of both games?

DRL said:

@Tasuki - Unfortunately, we've run into a little confusion with the release date of the Arkham Dual Pack, so we've removed it from the article for the time being. We'll update as soon as we learn more.

Sorry about that.

@DRL: Ok np with that. Still busy with GTA V atm so I can wait to pick it up. I was just interested in it cause I never played through Arkham Asylum and I did have the GOTY of Arkham City at one point.

Looking forward to NBA 2K14 but think I'll be waiting for the PS4 version.
