Xbox Live Marketplace is No More

Posted by Ken Barnes

Say hello to the Xbox Games Store

The Xbox Live Marketplace as you knew it is no more.

Well, it is, only as of today, it has new name.

In preparation for the launch of the Xbox One, Microsoft has rebranded the service as the Xbox Games Store, which will compliment the recently remonikered Xbox Music and Xbox Video stores, creating three distinctly separate services for users.

The new branding is in place on the web-based version of the store as we speak, and will make its way to the Xbox 360 shortly.

Speaking to Joystiq, an Xbox spokesman said: "Xbox Games Store will sit alongside the Xbox Music Store and Xbox Video Store. This is to make it easier for consumers to find content both on Xbox 360 today and Xbox One when it launches in November."

Well, it is quite new for me, since I did buy an used Xbox only two weeks ago. I only did/do have a Nintendo Wii (I was a longtime NintendoLife reader/user almost from beginning) and the Xbox 360 experience is new for me.

Thanks for this news.
