Your Next Free Game From Microsoft is Disappointing

Posted by Ken Barnes

To say the least.

When Microsoft announced that they'd be offering free games to Xbox Live Gold Members, and gave us a teaser of the scheme with Fable 3, we all though that things would be looking up for the often-downtrodden Xbox Live Gold subscriber base.

"You get two free games a month!" they said. "Games like Assassin's Creed II and Halo 3!" they said.

What's come to pass though, is that the first free game that kicks off the service proper, is an Xbox Live Arcade title from 2009. Now, we're not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but the 800 MSP Defense Grid: The Awakening isn't really what we were promised, is it?

When you consider that Sony have given away more than $1,000 worth of full games via their far superior PlayStation Plus scheme, you'd kind of expect Microsoft to be going all out to try to make a service that at least comes close. Not so, it seems.

Still, Defense Grid: The Awakening is free for Xbox Live Gold members until the 15th. (It's actually quite good.)

Such an anti-climax was looking forward to another great full title, not a arcade one, that still isn't free on the market place :/

Technically the didn't say Halo or AC would be in JUly. I'm guessing its going to be one Arcade title and One retail title per month.

Never Played the game do I'll download t but this a joke compared to PS+.
