2k Games Confirms WWE '14

As we reported last week, Take Two have picked up the WWE licence from stricken publisher THQ, and have today confirmed that the deal is done and that a new title is on the (fight) cards.

The new game follows the naming convention set by THQ, so WWE '14 is what sports entertainment fans will be looking for on store shelves come the end of the year. Japanese developer Yuke's are still in the hotseat, so massive changes aren't expected, and the title will be published under the 2k Sports label.

"The WWE series is a great addition to our stable of triple-A titles, and we’re very happy with this exclusive agreement with our new partners,” said 2K COO, David Ismailer. "We look forward to capturing the excitement of WWE and marrying it with the same commitment to authenticity and entertainment that we give to our NBA 2K and MLB 2K franchises.”

Formats have yet to be confirmed, but an Xbox 360 release is almost definite. There's a possibility that we'll see a Durango release, too - although that's conjecture at this stage. We'll bring you screenshots, trailers, and game information on WWE '14 just as soon as we get it.

Excellent I will be getting this one for sure. Its one of the few games that my son and I like to play together.

@Tasuki Yes, I think I will, too. I hope they put more stuff in like the Attitude Era content from WWE '13. Also, I thought the WWE Universe part (which made up 80% of the game) was just poor. Could basically put yourself in as title contender, fight one easy match, and be the WWE champion. Needs more of a flow to it, I reckon.

I'll be there on day one though - can't beat a good wrestling game.
