Assassin's Creed Shadows Can Be Played Offline, Confirms Ubisoft

Since Wednesday's Assassin's Creed Shadows reveal, there's been some controversy surrounding the game's online nature - mainly because fans spotted that the game 'required' an internet connection according to early store listings. In the wake of this online-only outcry, Ubisoft has responded, and the news is largely good.

The team has cleared up that Assassin's Creed Shadows can indeed be played offline. You'll need a connection to install the game — we'd expect a chunk of the data to be downloaded — but once that's all set up, the single-player adventure can be played in full without being connected to the internet.

AC Shadows — the series' first mainline title to be set in Japan — marks Ubisoft's first current-gen-only Assassin's Creed game. It's coming to Xbox Series X and S, along with PS5 and PC, this November - and you can check out the team's cinematic trailer down below.

As for a good look at gameplay, nothing has been confirmed by Ubisoft just yet, but we'd expect Assassin's Creed Shadows to feature heavily at the next Ubisoft Forward event - airing on June 10th, 2024.
