Bethesda Delays Fallout 4's Xbox Series X|S Upgrade Into 2024

Bethesda revealed that it was working on bringing a native version of Fallout 4 to Xbox Series X and S over a year ago - and the team still needs more time to make it happen. The developer has today announced that Fallout 4's 'next-gen' update is delayed into 2024.

Simply put, Bethesda "needs more time" to fully upgrade Fallout 4 for current-gen systems. Here's the team's new statement in full:

"Thank you for your patience with us as we work on the Fallout 4 next-gen update. We know you're excited, and so are we! But we need a bit more time and look forward to an exciting return to the Commonwealth in 2024."

Just a few weeks ago when Amazon unveiled a fresh look at its Fallout TV adaptation, we did question whether Bethesda might delay Fallout 4 next-gen to launch it closer to the show when it arrives in April. We may well have just got our answer to that question with this delay!

Anyway, we'll keep you all posted on when Fallout 4 is coming to Xbox Series X|S in an official capacity, but for now, we can only expect it to launch sometime in 2024.

Did you expect this, given how close we are to the end of the year? Tell us your thoughts down below.
