The beloved world of RuneScape has never made an appearance in any form on Xbox before, but when RuneScape: DragonWilds officially releases on September 15th, we now know that it'll be a "day one" launch on Xbox Game Pass.
Jagex has confirmed the news in a press release today, and even though RuneScape: DragonWilds has been available in early access on PC for a year now, they're still counting this as a "day one" release because of the 1.0 launch on September 15th. Here's a bit of what the press release says:
"Today, Jagex: The RuneScape Company, is excited to share that their breakout open-world survival crafting game, RuneScape: Dragonwilds will be available day one with Xbox Game Pass. The game enjoyed by over one million players during Early Access, and the first from the iconic fantasy franchise to make its way to console, will be available to Xbox Game Pass holders to play for free when it launches its 1.0 version on the 15th of September later this year."
For those who haven't come across it before, this isn't the point-and-click browser version of RuneScape that you might have enjoyed over the past 20+ years, but rather a separate co-op survival adventure title that's racked up "Very Positive" reviews on Steam during its early access period. Should be a great fit for Xbox Game Pass, then!
Although it hasn't been confirmed yet, we assume this one will be exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers when it launches on September 15th, but we'll let you know for definite nearer the time .
For now, here are more details along with some screenshots for RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
On RuneScape's forgotten continent of Ashenfall, dragons have awoken. Gather, build, skill and craft in this co-operative survival adventure. Only by mastering survival and uncovering ancient secrets can you hope to face the ferocious Dragon Queen.
