If you're someone who uses the Xbox app on mobile, you may have noticed today that you've been spammed with a bunch of "Mobile Test Message" notifications, said to be a "dummy message sent via Braze".
This has become a big topic on social media over the past couple of hours, with hundreds of Xbox fans sharing screenshots of the notification and questioning what it means. Here's one example:
In response, Xbox has now issued an apology over on Twitter/X, telling users that "the Xbox App got a little too enthusiastic" and saying sorry for "flooding your notifications".
"The Xbox App got a little too enthusiastic with test notifications today. That’s on us, but it’s resolved now. Thanks for understanding, and we apologize for flooding your notifications."
So, there's nothing to panic about here, and there's nothing you need to do either. It was simply a test notification that went wrong, and seemingly got pushed out to the vast majority of Xbox app users!
Did you receive this? Let us know down in the comments below.

Yeah I was wondering what was up with that!
I just redeemed some reward points thought it was something to do with that obviously it happened to most people aswell.
I got a about 12 of them in a row although I seen some people got upwards of 60. It was quite amusing for a moment but I can imagine for some it was causing the notifications to be out of control.
@Zenszulu I only got 4 myself haha everyones phones hopping!
I thought it would be a typical phishing message. I receive so many of them from so many places that I automatically ignore them xD
I came close to deleting the app, it was getting so bad. Probably got 50 notifications before it finally stopped.
AI spyware within the app. Just as the new CEO mentioned her desire to do in previous interviews.
I had a number of those too but glad it was just a system error and nothing nefarious
