The teams behind the Age of Empires and Age of Mythology series' have been sharing their plans for 2026 today, which includes a new PC release for Age of Empires Mobile - a game that's proved a hit on Android and iOS.
This version will be available on PC Game Pass at launch, as well as purchasable via the Xbox PC app and on Steam. There's actually a new page for it on the Xbox Store already if you fancy hitting the "wishlist" button.
Here's a bit more about what to expect:
"The game has been available on Google Play and Apple App Store since October 2024 and has seen millions of players from around the world build their kingdoms, taken part in massive battles to control the map and earned rewards in in-game events."
"Now optimized for PC, players can experience the game with mouse control, full keyboard navigation, refined UI and enhanced 4K visuals. Seamless Crossplay will allow players who’ve started on mobile to swap between their phone, tablet and/or PC with ease."
Of course, it's a little bit weird to be getting a PC release for the mobile version of a game that was adapted from a PC title in the first place... but we still think this'll prove popular, and it's nice to have the option regardless.
This is far from the only Age of Empires announcement today, with confirmation that Age of Empires 2's next expansion, The Last Chieftains, will be coming out in February, and Age of Empires 4 will also release two expansions in 2026. Meanwhile, Age of Mythology: Retold has a new Expansion Pass that will culminate with the game's most ambitious expansion yet.
