Black Ops 7 Comparison Shows Difference Between Xbox Series X And Series S

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has started to release around the world, so we've already got a comparison for it!

The excellent Xbox Fuzion Testing is first on the scene again, sharing an initial look at both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S gameplay over on YouTube, including some very preliminary performance tests.

On Xbox Series X, Black Ops 7 is said to output at a native 1440p in 60Hz mode (with dynamic resolution scaling) and 1080p in 120Hz mode, upscaled to 4K. It's described as "very nice looking" and ultimately pretty similar to Black Ops 6, while the graphics settings are evidently lowered in the 120Hz mode but not too drastically. Performance is shown to be generally very solid, with the frame rate only slightly dipping below 60FPS and 120FPS. All in all, it seems to run well.

On Xbox Series S, it's suggested that the native resolution is 1206p in 60Hz mode (with DRS) and 576p-1080p in 120Hz mode, upscaled to 1440p. Again, comparisons are made to Black Ops 6 in terms of the visuals which look perfectly fine overall, albeit with some added softness for the likes of textures and shadows compared to Series X. Performance seems very solid at 60FPS, but the 120FPS mode can struggle a little on the Series S, sometimes dropping below the 100 mark. As a result, you're going to want a VRR-enabled display to play the game like this.

As we always say with these early tests, they're only meant to be a quick glance at what to expect when you first boot up the game, and we'll have to wait longer for the likes of Digital Foundry to give us a more in-depth analysis.

Still, we never really expected Black Ops 7 to struggle too much on Xbox Series X and S, so this footage seems like a pretty safe bet in terms of what we'll be getting when the game launches worldwide over the next few hours.

We'll leave you with the two videos below, along with a link to all the last-minute release details.
