Viewfinder, the award-winning puzzle game currently out on PlayStation & PC, is making its way to Xbox & Nintendo Switch next month as the game strips itself of any Sony console exclusivity.
Publisher Thunderful and developer Sad Owl Studios have announced the news alongside a new accolades trailer — viewable up above — that splices up game clips with some of the title's most positive review quotes.
"Viewfinder is an award-winning first-person puzzle game where you reshape reality using photography. Snap photos and place them into the world to transform your surroundings, solve puzzles, and uncover the secrets of a beautifully crafted, atmospheric world."
It's not just the reviews that showcase how well-received this game was, though. Just taking a look at the game's Steam page, Viewfinder took home loads of awards last year following its initial 2023 release - including best British game at the BAFTAs, GOTY at the Ukie Video Game Awards, and it got plenty of other nominations elsewhere, too.
Viewfinder makes its way to Xbox Series X|S consoles on August 12th, 2025.

I saw "Playstation" exclusive and was tripping because I knew I played this on PC lol.
Horray for the first paragraph.
There was apparently never any exclusivity deal, so you might have thought they would have brought it across sooner. Nice to see it now though.
I think I'd enjoy it though, so maybe if I catch it in a good sale or it comes to GP or PS+...
Could it be that the studio didn’t have enough resources to port it to all consoles at once? That sounds familiar. Probably just like No Rest for the Wicked that everyone is jumping on to say that Xbox is so over. Surely it can’t be something less sinister, right?
Played this on PC, really liked it. Great to see it coming to more platforms.
@awp69 Well, at least Thunderful never announced an Xbox version of Viewfinder before releasing it for PS5. So there's that to keep in mind.
That said, Moon Studios did lose a publisher for No Rest for the Wicked...
Whilst I understand your point, @awp69, it has still taken 2 years for this title to arrive on the Xbox. Do you really want to be part of an ecosystem where you get games that are 2 years old...
@Fiendish-Beaver There are hundreds and hundreds of games coming out. I can’t even keep up with all the great games that have been coming to GamePass. (And yes, I do buy plenty of games, including Ready or Not just yesterday)
So I don’t mind about waiting two years for a game like this because I’m drowning as it is. And will be for the foreseeable future.
Looks pretty decent for a puzzle game, I might just have to pick this one up.
@Fiendish-Beaver Savage dig at PlayStation folks getting Xbox games years later and buying at full price…. Love it!
I'm in the same boat with too many games to play, @awp69, but do you honestly think it will be any different in 2 years time? By then your backlog will likely be even bigger, meaning a game such as this will probably pass you by because you will have something bigger and better to play...
Fair, I didn't know it was PS4/5, Switch 1 and PC. But it takes time for studios to make for each platform, so now that they have the time/resources, they can make it for Xbox/Switch 2, pretty cool.
I haven't played it yet, have bought a digital license of it for PS4, but I was intrigued by it.
Wow win!!
